The Man With No Eyes Collection (5): The Director

When the curtain rises, all is forgiven.

Shielding our thoughts, so we just keep on living.

I happened to wander backstage one dark day.

And passed through the veil after losing my way.

Then, in the director’s chair, to my surprise,

There sat a tall man, dressed sharply in lies,

His smile was beaming; his face had no eyes.

I fled from the room, where my mind was left reeling

The image I’d seen left a deep, queasy feeling,

A creature of darkness, inhuman and wrong,

But the truth is, I had known him all along.

For this man and that man are one and the...

I'd pretended not to know anything. I tried to get over her, but I couldn't. It was too painful. It was too difficult.

I still blamed myself. I always would.

I did like she asked, I finished college. I moved to New York after graduation to begin my career as a child psychologist. I'd graduated early. Worked harder than was necessary. Ignored everything not school-related. Had a successful job interview. Accepted into a private practice.

I was miserable.

I still had to keep living; I knew I had to. I was twenty three when I moved there.

Twenty three when I decided to watch small children play in a park in the hope of learning something new.

She never failed to surprise me. Not ever.

It's finally here! All the submissions to this month's poésie contest is included within this soapbox, for your convenience. For the sake of the judges, I am allowing two weeks from today for them to peruse the works herein and then create a pick with their haut, retour au début five choices. The judges may confer amongst themselves if they wish. Input from the fanpop community should also be considered. commentaires on particular poems are welcome. The only thing that is prohibited is pointing out (subtly ou obviously) which poem is yours. As a poet, that may disqualify toi from the competition, for betraying the...

I'm the one
who will dare
to look without
one blind eye.

I dare.
Blindness lives here not!

I'm the one
who will speak
the truth,
releasing the memories
that eat my brain.

I dare.
Lies live here not!

I'm the one
who will
remember you,
the way toi really are.

I dare.
Oblivion lives here not!

I'm the one
who will live
through the words,
even when my life
forget me.

I dare.
Emptiness lives here not!

I'm the one
who will encourage you,
even when your life
is dying slowly within
your mind.

I dare.
Surrender lives here not!

What kind of sick, twisted individual created the idea of dodgeball? Apparently it seemed like such a great idea to put child against child, and have them whip balls at each other. And it doesn't matter that gym teachers say "no hitting people in the face," because despite that, that's exactly what they're aiming for.

I was just happy I was out most of the game. I was able to sit out on the sidelines, with all the kids who were furious they were out. and avoid a panic attack.

I saw Jezreel again.

She was ducking behind a kid, who seemed to not mind her using him as a body guard. I almost laughed...

Endless Pain: Chapter Two

Selena and her mother had sat on the lit while Selena told the whole story.

“And just last night I dreamed that he had… that he had…”

“He had been what?” her mom asked with utter most curiosity; for she knew her daughter, and anything could happen.

“He had been killed!” Selena shouted. “And it felt so real! As if I saw it with my own eyes!” The tears slowly came again, but they passed....

Chapter Two:

Jean:

Jean got on the bus a few hours later, dressed in her brown Tim Hortons uniform, earphones in her ears as she fiddled with her iPod. Benny spotted her as soon as she got on. Without a seconde thought, he stood up and sat in the empty siège suivant to her.

Jean was young, sixteen, maybe seventeen, and tall. Her dark hair was pulled up neatly behind her head. She wore very little make up and looked exhausted, as if she’d just woken up and remembered she had to go work.

Jean looked over at Benny and gave him a half-hearted smile, before turning back to her music.

“Hello,” a dit Benny,...

The Man With No Eyes Collection (4): Lately

I thought I Lost toi before toi even left me.

That’s the message that your cloudy gaze sent me,

And now it’s become a glistening bubble of a memory.

Is it possible toi regret me?

Is it possible that I’m empty?

Why else would I awake to find no one here except me?

Won’t anyone accept me?

My true face, not the stunning mask of the beautiful, bereft me?

Haunted riches; is it worth being wealthy?

The creeping outside my doors; they’re gonna get me.

And once they finish chopping me up, they’re gonna set me,

Ablaze, and then they’ll just forget me.

A plus grim tone and disorganized format were intentional for this one. Funny enough, the titre was the hardest part here. Trying to sum up this poem in just a word was difficult, but I think I found a good fit.

Chapter 1

As I slowly walk toward the road I can't help but to think "What have I gotten myself into?" I know I shouldn't have done what I did. Is this where I was suppose to end up? Is this destiny. If it is... I don't believe. I just wish I could take it all back. I'm sorry. I'm sorry is all I could say. I shouldve never listened to her. My mother. Don't let this be the end. I won't give up. Please. Then I hear a soft scream but as I approach closer It grows louder. I start to shake inside but I manage to keep walking. I'm sorry. I shouldve let him go. It was stupid. I shouldve let that night...

An loutre strode silently down the dim hall.
His pelt was black as night and his eyes were as blue as the sky on a cloudless day.
He wore a black tunic, which came down a little past his knees.
From the way he walked to the sly glint in his eyes, it was clear that he was crafty, daring and fierce.
He was young, yes, but he was the most advanced in his classes.
He had won duels with experienced warriors, beat the best archers and had even stolen nourriture from behind the cook’s back.
The Wave Warriors would be lucky to have him in their army, if he stood up to their expectations.
Would he?

Worthless. Useless. Despicable. Wretched.

These are the words my mother used to describe me. Each word was like a dagger through me. But I was thankful. She might've come up with that soon enough.

"There's nothing like a mother's love," they say. I wouldn't know. If it included fear, pain, hate, and resentment, then yes. There's nothing like it. Not in the the entire world. But I think they meant it was wonderful. Not terrible.

But it was over now. She was gone forever.

I was allowed to her funeral,...
