When creating dialog, you have to get inside the characters head....ask yourself what would this person do in a specific situation. As the writer, toi know the character inside and out. Write out their character outline on a sheet of paper and refer to it constantly.

When designing your character, avoid the infamous
"Mary-Sue" Add some flaws that explain their character. And don't be afraid of letting your character grow as toi go along. Maybe toi want to change how they act around other people. Maybe toi decided toi want a character to go from solemn and logical to a little plus easy-going.
Be open to that.

Also when describing your character, try not to make it too vague ou too descriptive (this is the biggest problem I have, especially when it comes to scenery) Put just enough words to paint a picture without boring the reader with technicalities.
It takes practice, but soon toi get a feel for it.
