Dream

It was a quiet jour in the HQ. It might've even seemed too quiet for some and that "some" wasn't Skipper. To Kowalski, something didn't seem right.
He left the HQ for a while and looked around the zoo and everyone was present in the zoo. All except for one: Monique. He double checked the zoo, he even triple checked. She didn't say anything about leaving and she's talked to Kowalski about a lot.
What was also amazing was that no one else seemed to notice her disappearance except for him. Not even Skipper, and he always his parttime blood shot, highly trained eyes on everything. Kowalski had never been so worried in his life.

Reality

Monique woke up feeling sweat coming down her forehead and she carefully looked around her. The only good thing was that she was awake and she was present.
As she got out of bed, she noticed she forgot to traverser, croix the précédant jour off of the calender. When she did just that, she developed a scary, serious thought: her end can come unexpectedly and as one jour passes, she has less and less days to continue to live. Her end would come at any time and the only person she knows would really notice if she's gone is Kowalski. Her end would be near and she doesn't know if she showed what would no longer happened if her time came.
Later on, she reached the HQ and seemed trapped in her thoughts. When Kowalski noticed, he asked if there was something wrong. Monique told him about the dream and he seemed pretty shocked.
"Why would toi think of it if you're scared of death?" Kowalski asked.
"I don't know. I mean, it comes unexpected and as every jour passes, we always have fewer days of our lives to live," Monique a dit with her head down.
They both had a semi similar fear. While Monique was scared of death in general, Kowalski was scared of facing her death. He hasn't found a way to bring living things back from the dead, but, even if he had, the thought of facing Monique's possible death is just too much for even the scientist to bear.
"Kowalski, if it does happen sooner than we think, I want toi to do something," Monique said.
"What do toi want me to do?" Kowalski asked.
"If it does happen, I want toi to always remind yourself of who i was, not par faults, but as a person. Please don't forget me. And if toi end up feeling alone, just know that I'll always be with toi in spirit, although it's a scientific impossibility," Monique a dit strongly.
Kowalski still felt hesitate about the thought, but it is true that it does happen unexpected and eventually. All he did was grab Monique's hand and agree to what she said.
Private and Skipper looked over at the two wondering what they were talking about, but they couldn't wonder for long. All of a sudden, Blowhole came up on the tv screen.
"Pen-gu-ins and human," Blowhole said.
"What is it, bottlenose?" Monique sassed.
"Let's see, just another evil plot. Instead of minions being served with a bolvine related product, you'll find yourselves as a meat lover's diet," Blowhole said.
Private, Skipper and Rico all seemed confused.
"Don't get your hopes up, Edward Nigma, we'll take toi down anyway," Monique said.
The screen went black, but not before a scent of coney island passed through the air.
"You know the drill, soliders!" Skipper a dit as they all left.
"So, what is his plan?" Private asked.
"He's planning to take us down using his homard minions as usual," Kowalski started.
"But with an added twist: he'll also try to burn us alive when he gets the chance," Monique concluded.
When they got to Coney Island, they were trying to strategize what to do, but before they could make a final decision, Rico blew them to Blowhole's HQ.
"So much for element of surprise," Skipper a dit as he slapped Rico.
"Ahh, pen-gu-ins and human. I was afraid you'd be late for you're own funerals!" Blowhole a dit as he used his segway to come closer.
As Blowhole came closer to the 5, so did the lobsters. Skipper was attacking with corkscrews, Rico was attacking with shockingly organized explosions, Private was using hypercute, Monique was using her anger to take down the lobsters coming toward her and Kowalski, and Kowalski was taking down some lobsters using some complex fighting moves he came up with, but when it seemed to him that there were too many lobsters surrounding Monique, she refused his help and claimed that it's alright. Honestly, Monique didn't feel couragous about fighting the lobsters coming toward her, but she didn't want to seem weak to the others. After all, she wasn't to perfect at being as commando as the others and she figured they'd treat her differently in a bad way if they knew how she felt.
Eventually, they took down the lobsters, but then Blowhole started slowly setting the room on feu using a laser before he evacuated.
Everything was burning and there didn't seem to be a way out.
"There's a tunnel on the north east side of this room. If we can make it there, we'll get out of here before the temperature rises and oxygen is replaced with smoke," Kowalski said.
They tried hurrying to the tunnel and the room kept filling with smoke and flames. They were trying to keep their oxygen, but they were coughing real hard. Monique knew she wasn't the fastest in the group, but she was a bit physically strong, so she pushed the penguins to the tunnel and struggled to follow. It came to the point where she was struggling to even crawl to the tunnel.
While at the tunnel, the penguins were regaining oxygen, but Skipper and Kowalski knew something wasn't right.
"We're missing a soldier!" Skipper said.
"Monique's still in there!" Kowalski cried with a tone of fear in his voice.
After catching one last breath of oxygen, they went back to find her. Kowalski managed to find her a few yards away from the tunnel, but she didn't look too good.
"Monique, are toi alright?" Kowalski asked.
"I, I'm fine. I'd be weak if i didn't feel fine," Monique struggled to say.
Just then, it hit Kowalski. At that point, he realized she didn't want to seem weak to him and the team.
"Soldier, even the strongest being in the world would admit to facing a near death experience. toi can't deny the need for help forever, Monique," Skipper said.
Kowalski tried to get Monique to the tunnel, but it didn't seem successful.
"Kowalski, i don't think i can go on anymore," Monique a dit while coughing.
"Don't say that. We'll find a way, you'll see," Kowalski tried to argue.
"Don't lie to yourself. Let's face it, I'm not like toi ou the others. It's obvious i'd die before toi guys."
"Well, it's true that toi aren't like me and the others, but toi are like toi and that's the best toi can be."
"Do toi think I'm weak?"
"Of course not. I l’amour you, Monique."
"I l’amour you, too, Kowalski."
The two kissed one final time before she close her eyes permanently. Kowalski cried one tear on her cheek.
"Kowalski, we need to get out of here and quick," Skipper said.
Kowalski just silently got up and headed to the tunnel with the others. He looked back and saw Monique nearly being covered par curtains and blankets of flames.
That night, Private, Skipper, and Rico were able to sleep, but still worried about how Kowalski's feeling about what happened. While the three met up with slumber, Kowalski snuck out to the surface of their habitat and looked up at the night sky.
"You knew toi wouldn't make it, didn't you? That's why toi pushed us to safety?" Kowalski asked the night.
As if answering his question, a gush of wind came along and nearly drying up the tears on Kowalski's face.
"You know, toi were plus than a soldier, not only to me, but to the others as well. It'll be a huge change now that you're not here. I know toi a dit that you'll always be with us, but we're really going to miss you, Monique," Kowalski finished to the night sky.
Almost like a sign that she was listening, a fleur blew off a arbre from the park and landed on Kowalski's wing. He just smiled at it, let another tear come down his face, and came back inside. Maybe it's impossible in the scientific point of view, but there's a good chance it is possible that she's still around in a way.
