Lisa had returned an heure later to the studio. The filming still went on, despite her leaving. She stumbled through the door, although regaining composure quickly. She flashed her badge clumsily to security and kept walking without even looking at them. She also found it a tad difficult to walk in heels.
“Lisa, you’re back!” Jen was the first to see her on her way back from the bathroom.
She immediately recoiled back after smelling the vodka on Lisa.
“I’m just here to yell at Hugh and then I’m leaving again.”
“Have toi been drinking?” she asked, obviously knowing the answer was yes. She was leaning plus towards the “why” factor.
“No!” Lisa said, in a bit of a slur and walking faster. “I don’t drink.”
Jen grabbed her par the arm and stopped her in her tracks.
“What?” Lisa asked, confused on why she was being pulled back.
“If toi go in there like this, David will feu toi on the spot.”
“Go in there like what?” Lisa asked, giving her a bit of an attitude.
“This!” Jen exclaimed. “Your pupils are dilated, toi reek of alcohol, and toi can’t walk straight to save your life.”
Lisa chuckled. It was an awkward drunken chuckle that made Jen feel uncomfortable. “Thanks for your concern, but I’m fine.” She started walking again, quickly evading a near twisted ankle experience while turning.
“You aren’t fine!” Jen said, hurrying after her. “Lisa, let me help you.”
It was too late. Lisa burst through the doors, literally, tripping over the tiny stubble in the doorway. Evidently, they were calling it a day, for everyone was gathered up together, evaluating their jour and what they were going to do tomorrow first thing.
“Lisa!” Everyone had noticed her stumbling in, but David spoke to her first.
“My vision hurts,” she said, rubbing her close eyelids. All the lights in the area didn’t get along with her.
A very blurry looking David walked over to her. “Can I see toi in my office?”
Lisa chuckled. “Gee, David, the way toi sound saying it like that, it’s like I’m being sent to the principal’s office.”
David heard the change in her voice as well. He also éperlan the alcohol, but didn’t call her on it yet. He took her par the bend of her elbow, attempting to get her to come with him.
“No, I need to talk to Hugh,” she said.
Their eyes met from across the room. He looked confused and sad at the same time.
“You’re going to talk to me first. Come on.”
“You’re a bastard for saying what toi a dit about me!” she yelled out to Hugh, but going with David willingly.
David instructed her to sit when she got into his office. He shut the door and leaned up against it, folding his arms. “Mind telling me why toi had the nerve to come back to the set drunk?”
Lisa sighed, annoyed. “Why does everyone keep telling me I’m drunk? I couldn’t drive if I was drunk, right?”
David’s eyes widened a bit. “You drove back here? From where?”
“Home. What’s the big deal? I wanted to see Hugh.”
“You’ve got bigger problems right now than Hugh, Lisa, and I won’t even mention the drunk driving part.”
“I’m just a little buzzed, that’s all. I’m perfectly aware of what I’m thinking and saying.”
“You are aware that I could feu toi because of toi walking out earlier, right?”
Lisa chuckled. “Oh come on David, toi wouldn’t feu me. That’s like firing Hugh. toi need me.”
“If toi don’t straighten yourself up, and I’m serious when I say this, I will suspend you. The last few days have been tougher on me than they have been on you. I’m trying to get an episode done and toi flinch at the sight of Hugh.”
Lisa’s mouth dropped. “He insulted me in front of millions!”
“So what? Get over it. Hugh’s nothing plus than a coworker. What toi should be doing is ignoring it, montrer your fans that you’re not what he says toi are. Instead, you’re afraid of the person who a dit it.”
“I am not afraid of Hugh,” she said, voice hard and serious.
“Then prove it to me. Tomorrow morning, I want toi out on that set and ready to go, understood? I don’t want to be out to be the bad guy, Lisa, but this is going too far. I’m cutting toi some slack this time because I’ve never had problems with toi in the past.”
Lisa would’ve a dit something back, but her stomach started to stir. She excused herself and disappeared into the bathroom in David’s office to relieve herself of some of the alcohol she consumed earlier. It burned like hell coming back up. Lisa then realized that she drank way too much and wasn’t being herself. It all became clear once she emptied the clear liquid into the bowl before her.
David came in behind her. Lisa was on her knees, hand thrown over her forehead. It didn’t even look like she threw anything up.
“You drank on an empty stomach? God, Lisa, no wonder why toi were so drunk.” Even though David was furious with her, he had a soft spot for Lisa. She was so charming and sweet on a daily basis. Her actions today were completely uncalled for but they didn’t erase all the good she previously did. Everyone screws up once in a while.
Lisa reached up and flushed the toilet, still groaning and clearing her now very tender and sore throat.
David helped her to her feet and allowed her to lean on him as they left the bathroom.
“Let me take toi home,” he offered.
“No, I’ll take her home,” Hugh a dit from the corner of David’s office.
