If Dr. Gregory House, MD lives in my country, he’ll surely be labeled as “Torpe” par the people. Torpe, pronounce as “tor-pe”, refers to a male person who is basically much in l’amour with another person but loses his nerve whenever he feels like admitting his real l’amour to the one he admires the most even though the girl/woman already knew what he feels. 
I happened to notice how “torpe” he is during the last scenes of House in “The Itch” and “Last Resort”. He could have walk right through Cuddy’s door that evening, could have say “yes, I want a relationship with you” when Cuddy asked him if he wanted a relationship and he could have drive down to Cuddy’s place and admit but he didn’t. But being “torpe” isn’t a negative attitude for House, unlike other boys. He used it as a charm, not only for Cuddy, but for us as well.
With this trait, I was able to admire the way he courts his boss. His simple yet precious gestures only made my soul melts and wished that I am on Cuddy’s shoes especially when he brought in the bureau Cuddy had during her college years. He gives away mind blowing, heart-racing, mouth drooling kisses to the women he loves for the past season. His Kiss speaks how much he’s intimately in l’amour and how much he cares.
Like many “torpes”, House makes sure that he’s courting the woman he loves and not just a woman for sexual pleasures. There’s a huge difference, he knows that. That’s the reason why, as of now, we only see two women who House admitted he had feelings for, Stacy and Cuddy. He’s pushed these women in his life slowly but at the same time, makes sure that the woman he likes falls right through him bull’s eye.
Finally, here’s what makes Greg House the Best Torpe of all Times is the idea that he loves only once in a blue moon but par the time he loved, we know that it is for real and he wanted to make it work as much as he could. He reserves the best in him for the best woman in his life. He gives unconditionally anything for the woman he loved and expect nothing in return but l’amour as well. Unlike his relationship with hookers, House respects his partner unlike any other girls he encounter with like how he respects his mother. And being a once-in-a-blue-moon lover as he is, there’s a 101% guarantee that he won’t sleep around with other women donné the fact that he knows how big the commitment he’s on. Sure, maybe, he’ll fling, play jokes with some girls but having an emotional affair… Na… So clingers, sorry, there’s only a l’espace for one and that one is the center of House’s universe.
House MD had been running for almost five years now and we only saw House fell in l’amour twice. One with Stacy and one that’s blooming right now, the one with Cuddy. Maybe it’s a short shot for him but if these two characters are real, ask them ‘cause I am sure they’ll blurt out praises only about how great the relationship was (although Cuddy’s relationship with House is just starting, just ask her par Season 6).
True he’s damaged. HL and LE admit it to themselves how miserable this character is but the miserable being people hate most often is the one who’s brings out the best in him for the one he truly loves the most.
