Nicole's Mistake
August 21, 1955
Nicole has gone through many exciting adventures in her life when she used to work on the Northern Pacific. She was telling one of them to some of the ponies in the trainyard.
Nicole: It was a very cold day, about four years ago, only several miles from Portland. I was driving a train to Seattle, but there was a lot of snow, and it was making things difficult.
Gordon: Interesting.
Coffee Creme: Please continue.
Nicole: Anyway, my firemare Aurora was a nice pony. She once worked on the Norfoal & Western Railroad during World War 2, and she had this idea to keep us occupied while we were going through the snow.
Several miles north of Portland
January 5, 1951
Nicole: *Driving train through snow* There's not a lot so far, but when we start going uphill, we'll have to plow a lot of snow off the line.
Aurora: Casey Jones would have a hard time doing this if he was told to. *Shovels coal into firebox*
Nicole: Keep doing your best Aurora.
Aurora: Hey, when I was on the N&W, we had this great idea to keep ourselves occupied.
Nicole: What was it?
Aurora: We would sing songs. This one toi have to speak russian.
Nicole: Oh, I know that language very well.
Aurora: Good. toi ready to sing?
Nicole: Yes.

The train starts to go uphill, and plus snow is in the way, but their train does not slow down.

Their train made it to the haut, retour au début of the hill, and they reached Seattle on time.
When Nicole finished her story, everypony shared their opinion.
Coffee Creme: Amazing.
Gordon: Nicole has resource.
Jeff: And sagacity. She's an example to fine railroading ponies everywhere.
Nicole: You're too kind.
Stylo: Resource, and sagacity? What does that mean?
Hawkeye: I think it means to be brave, and wise. It's actually funny how Gordon just used big boy words.
Gordon: Oh hardy har har. toi want big boy words? Go shove an pomme pie up your ass.
Hawkeye: Language Gordon. Young ponies at your age should not be cursing.
Gordon: I'm older than you!
Stylo: And yet you're not as mature as Pierce Hawkins. How unfortunate.
Gordon: RRRRRRRAGHH!! *Leaves the train yard, and is very angry*
Nicole: Wow, what's his problem?
Hawkeye: Besides being fat? The liste is almost endless.
Nicole: I feel your pain.
The suivant day, Nicole was assigned to drive a freight train to Denver. When she got back, she was waiting at the trainstation so that she could drive a passenger train to North Platte Neighbraska.
Nicole: *Sitting on bench*
Mirage: *Arrives with Percy, and Jeff*
Pete: *On loudspeaker* Attention, the suivant passenger train will arrive in five minutes, bound for North Platte.
Mirage: Nicole, may we have a word with you?
Nicole: All three of you?
Percy: What we have to tell toi is very important.
Nicole: Okay, what word do toi want from me?
Mirage: Intelligence. We just heard that some ponies in the mafia are set up at Archer Hill.
Percy: And since you're driving a train to North Platte, you'll have to pass those gangsters.
Nicole: toi think I can't deal with the mafia. Coffee Creme knows better. She says I'm sagacious.
Mirage: toi maybe, good gracious, but-
Jeff: Don't say anymore Mirage. It's quite unfortunate, but this young mare will have to learn for herself.
Nicole: Oh, toi think it's because of my age that I won't be able to handle a bunch of wise guys.
Mirage: Well, young ponies do tend to make a lot of mistakes.
Nicole: You're younger than me Mirage.
Mirage: Yes, but I learn from Hawkeye. He's an expert on railroading, and I'd listen to him if I were you.
Nicole: I've gone through many adventures before. I can deal with the gangsters.
Jeff: *Sees passenger train* Well, your train is coming up Nicole. Good luck.
Percy: Yeah, you're gonna need it.
Engineer Pony: *Stops train, then hops out of engine*
Nicole: No I won't. *Walks to engine, and climbs in*
Mirage: How long do toi think she's gonna survive?
Percy: Not that long.
Jeff: When I rescued her from the Northern Pacific, I thought she would have plus common sense, but I think she Lost it all.
Mirage: toi think it's from being in so many adventures?
Jeff: Not only that, but the fact that she got fired, just made her lose her mind. I've seen some ponies act like that before.
Percy: I hope she comes to her senses.
Conductor: All aboard!
Signal Pony: *Turns signal green*
Nicole: *Blows horn twice, and drives train out of station*
Mirage: Well, nothing we can do about it now. Let's get back to work.
Nicole was driving her train towards Archer Hill. Near the tracks were a bunch of gangsters waiting in their cars.
They were playing a song on one of the radios: link
Gangster 2: Here comes the train.
Gangster 3: Right on time.
Gangster 1: What are we going to take?
Gangster 6: Money toi idiot. We're robbing all the money from the passengers. Get to your cars, and let's go! *Drives down to train tracks*
Nicole: *Notices gangsters* Here we go. *Drives train faster*
Gangster 4: *Driving up to engine*
Nicole: *Leans out window* What do toi want?
Gangster 4: We want some money ma'am. Can toi stop the train so that we can rob it?
Nicole: Go rob something else toi homeless sap.
Gangster 4: That's not how a mare is supposed to talk to a stallion! Kill her.
Gangster 5: *Throws grenade onto tracks in front of Nicole*
The explosion caused the tracks to be destroyed, and Nicole's train crashed.
Gangsters: *Stop cars par train*
Gangster 7: Go, let's get the money.
Gangster 3: *Looks in cab*
Nicole: *Pretending to be dead*
Gangster 3: The engineer is dead. Let's grab what we need, and get out of here.
So the gangsters took all of the money from the passengers. When they left, Mirage arrived in one of the trucks owned par the Railroad.
Mirage: *Stops truck par train*
Nicole: *Gets out of train*
Mirage: Hello Nicole. Are toi being a good gracious pony? With all due respect, we don't like having any of our trains derailed. Pete's not going to be happy about this, but Percy, and Jeff will be most annoyed. Good bye. *Gets back in truck, and drives away*
Nicole: *Too ashamed to say anything*
Percy & Jeff: *Arrives in inspection cart*
Pete: *With Percy, and Jeff* toi don't know how to deal with gangsters, do you?
Nicole: Well how is anypony supposed to deal with gangsters throwing grenades at you?
Pete: There was a gun in the cab of your engine.
Nicole: There was? Where?
Pete: Under the seat. We only use them to fight against the mafia.
Percy: *Looking at damage* This is plus serious than we thought. Get a grue, crane over here.
Jeff: Right.
The wreckage was cleaned up, but Nicole was sent away. Pete had her transferred to work in St. Foalis, and sometimes she drives trains to Chicagoat.
