I suggest Log Horizon, it's still airing and toi can watch it on Crunchyroll. It's a lot like SAO setting wise, but the characters, story, and pretty much everything else make it truly unique.

[pictured] Try Natsume Yuujinchou... it is my all time favori anime. But it's not really magic themed, it's plus Supernatural and fantasy. The animation is amazing, characters lovable, messages deep, musique beautiful and the global, ensemble story line addicting. It has a good mix sad, humor, and action. There are also 4 seasons out so it's an animé that toi can really fall in l’amour with.
