The suivant day, plans for Merida's Get Well Soon feast began to go underway. Mulan, Pocahontas, and Nakoma did the nourriture picking, Shang and John did the heavy lifting, and Ping, Mace, and the other kids did card making. Chief Powhatan made sure Merida didn't get the tiniest bit suspicious. "Why are toi here?" Merida asked trying not to sound rude. "I thought toi would like to see someone different." Chief Powhatan answered. "You ARE someone different." Merida joked. Chief Powhatan laughed. A nurse suddenly came in.

"I hate to interrupt, but Merida's got a letter." she said. "Must be from me parents." Merida a dit to herself. When she looked at the envelope, she was astounded to find out who it was from. "I can't read this!" she a dit with a million knots in her stomach. "Calm yourself child. I'm sure it's nothing bad." Chief Powhatan soothed. Merida took a deep breath. "Okay." she a dit as she opened the letter.

The letter said:
"Dear Merida, I'm so glad toi forgive me! Back then was a terrible time for me, and I'm glad toi understand that now. I finally have my fears conquered and the control of my powers at bay. I understand toi don't want to be Friends right away. Even though, I'd l’amour to regain that bond with you, I understand if toi don't to now. If we never regain that bond, I'd be honored to be Dunbroch's trading partner! I hope this reaches toi wherever toi are.

Merida was ready about to cry the turquoise right out of her eyes after she read that. "I'm hoping that was something good." Chief Powhatan voiced with a high level of concern. "It was for me." Merida replied with a crack in her voice. *I'm glad she understands!* she thought. She couldn't wait to tell the others when she got out of the hospital. No, let's rephrase that-she KNEW she had to. She folded the letter up and put it in her manteau pocket.

"I know how toi feel." Chief Powhatan said. Merida came clean. "Me and this girl were once friends, and...She had a rumored cousin who has ice powers, and...After..." she trailed before pausing. "Sometimes, Rebel, we have to forgive and forget." Chief Powhatan stated. "That's what I had to do recently." Merida confessed. "You saw Kockum, didn't you?" Chief Powhatan said. Merida nodded. "It was just my subconscious speakin' to me." Merida tried to reassure.

"The warriors have a way of entering our minds." Chief Powhatan said. "How?" Merida asked. "They know when we are in trouble." Chief Powhatan answered. Merida theorized this. "It makes sense to me now. When I was fighting for my life, Kockum reached out to me." she stated. "And told me somethin' I needed to know." she continued. "Our warriors are always watching us." Chief Powhatan replied.

Merida felt her cœur, coeur flutter. "Don't tell Pocahontas toi know." she said. Chief Powhatan nodded respectfully. Merida didn't like admit her secret often. She only told it to people she trusted. Chief Powhatan left to see how things were going. Merida stared out the window until she fell asleep.
