Shade leapt over to another building. She looked behind her. Robin was still on her tail. She smirked. She wanted to get a little farther away. She knew Megan's mind link had a limit. If she could just get him to follow her, she' stop when they were out of range. She looked back to the front, this time choosing to flip over the gap. She stuck the landing and kept going. C'mon Robin. Just a little farther... She jumped the last one, this time hiding behind the AC unit. If he thought she was ahead, he'd follow. Her breathe came out faster. She tried to slow it down. The mask over her eyes was removed and she watched him jump the distance. She stood, putting her mask back on. Robin stared at her, panting.
“Hello Robin,” she whispered.
“Becca?”
She nodded, coming closer to him. She removed her mask , starring at him.
“What-how-where have toi been?! I've been looking everywhere for you!”
“I know. I was always close by. I stayed at Billy's. With his team.”
“Why?”
“I needed to heal Dick. I-I wasn't able to heal around toi guys. toi all wanted to fix me but couldn't. It hurts to know you're broken.”
“Becca...I never saw toi as broken.”
“Then what was I? What made toi do what Batman a dit rather than your own heart?”
There was no bite to Becca's words, just a lot of pain.
“I saw a vulnerable warrior. A traumatized heart. And I couldn't put it back together.”
Becca looked at him.
“You hurt me Dick. I thought...I was alone again. I was unloved again. Just like when toi left the first time.”
“I'm sorry Becca. I l’amour you! plus than toi know!”
“Dick toi know I l’amour you. Everyone knows that.” Robin stepped closer but Becca stopped him. “But we aren't getting back together.”
“Why not?”
“Look, I don't want to hurt you. But I can't stay if your dad doesn't want me to be with you.”
“Becca-”
“No.”
“But-”
“Robin, ours can not be a forbidden romance! As much as this breaks me, we can't! I'm traumatized par doing this! But we will never be as long as Batman disapproves. I'm sorry.”
