“We have to find her!”
“Robin, calm down. This is a League mission.”
“No! This is a mission for those who KNOW Becca!”
The mountain was filled with silence as Robin snapped at Batman. The Boy Wonder had always been loyal to his mentor. They had never seen him react this way till now.
“Robin. Stand down!”
“No! Becca needs me! toi can't stop me from helping her! If toi hadn't forbidden me to ever see her again, this would never have happened! She would be okay!”
Batman stared at his young protege. Robin was staring at him with a defiant but respectful glare. He faced him like a warrior preparing for battle. Batman placed a hand on Robin's shoulder.
“I hoped this would teach toi to stand for what toi believe in. Good job.”
Robin's face turned from defiance to surprise.
“Huh?”
“I needed to test how far toi were willing to go, despite the danger. Now that I know how determined toi are, I think toi should head on your way. We located a possible place he could have taken Becca. It's on the north side of Happy Harbor. An house that's been left up for sale for years. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal. But the fact that there have been noises behind the walls is a good clue. I hope toi find her.”
Becca opened her eyes and looked around. She didn't recognize the room she was in. It was decorated like an office but made for a bedroom. She got off the bed, sliding her booted feet onto the floor. She looked to the closed door, wondering if it could be locked. She headed for it, turning the knob slowly. Unlocked. She opened the door, peering outside. Nobody around. She exited the room, closing the door softly. She headed down the hallway, following her instincts.
“Wait! Come back!”
Becca didn't turn around to see who had spoken. She ran, hoping a door to the outside was close by. A mur of feu blocked her escape and Becca made a sudden turn; into a dead end. She turned around, looking at the shadows of people heading for her. Becca fell back against the wall, feeling all the fight drain out of her.
“Calm down. We won't hurt you.”
Becca looked up to find six teen heroes. Each looked exactly like a member of the Young Justice team. She stared at them, wondering how they could be so alike, but so different from her friends. She shook her head, looking away as fear filled her.
“Becca Stevens?”
Becca looked up at the six Heroes standing above her. She took the offered hand and stood.
“Yes. What do toi want? How do toi know my name?”
A boy in a full black uniform with indigo blue accents, belt, gloves, and mask answered her.
“We need your assistance. We know who toi are because...you know us.”
Becca looked at the boy. He had ebony colored hair, fair skin, and a slim but strong body. He was the smallest but an inch ou so taller than she was. She tilted her head.
“Who are toi guys?”
The six teens looked at each other before the smallest spoke again.
“My name is Falcon. This is Speed, Talon, Ares, Echo, and Acqua.”
“And what do toi want with me?”
They all exchanged a look again before Speed spoke up.
“You recently Lost your team, correct?”
“Yes.”
“We want to help you. Talon has sensed your...depression over their loss. We want to heal you.”
“No! toi can't! All have tried! All have failed! Most have died...”
Becca turned her head, tears creeping from her closed eyelids. She felt a hand on her shoulder and one under her chin. Her head was turned back to look at them, and Becca opened her eyes. faucon stood in front of her.
“Let us help you. I can tell toi are not a normal human, Becca. Neither are we. We aren't humans. We don't feel a lot of emotion. We are like you. Let us heal you.”
Becca stared at him for a minute then looked over at the others. They all looked at her and Becca gazed at them for a minute before she looked back to Falcon. He wore a smile now, relaxing her.
“What did toi have in mind?”
They could see lights flickering between the holes in the wall. Shadows moved against the windows, seven shadows to be exact.
“They have to be in there,” Robin said.
“We have to see. Becca could be hurt,” Willow exclaimed.
A sudden chill overcame them; Wally look-alike stood in front of them. He scanned their faces for a seconde before smiling.
“Robin, calm down. This is a League mission.”
