Requested par 66Dragons
Since the team had been doing better than ever, Batman had allowed them a party at Mt. Justice. All the young Heroes and sidekicks were invited and the assigned chaperones had canceled other plans.
“Yes! This is going to be awesome!” Wally exclaimed as he ran around.
“Wally!” Willow scolded on a giggle. “Stop.”
She shook her head and went back to hanging decorations. Megan was cooking all sorts of treats, Becca helping her so they came out perfect. Artemis and Kaldur had gone out to arrange for something without tons of sugar, Connor was clearing out the party l’espace of dirt, and Robin was helping hang streamers...in the rafters. Each were assigned a different job and set out to do as told. Wally had decided he was not able to wait.
“Yo Rob? Is Bats letting toi come to the party?” he asked on a speed high.
“Yeah but I'm not coming.”
“What? Why not?”
“Becca and I have précédant engagements.”
“So?”
“So we aren't going Wally,” Becca answered from where she was sitting and stirring chocolat for Megan's molds. She had seemed sad all week, but today beat all the others.
“What's the event?”
“Something that can't be rearranged.”
Becca set her bowl down, heading to a different room. Wally looked at Robin for an explanation as to why Becca was so down.
“I can't say much but Becca needs to do some buisness tonight. And she needs me. I can't let her go alone. Maybe we'll balançoire, swing par later, but that's up to Becca.”
Becca sat on Robin's bed, crying silent tears. Since she no longer lived at the mountain, she no longer had a room. But Robin had always allowed her in his so she sat there now, crying with an aching heart. The door opened and Robin came in. He shut the door and crawled on the lit behind her, wrapping his arms around her tightly.
“I miss them so much.”
“I know Becca. But they are still with you.”
“I want to see them. I want to hug them. I want to remember!”
“I know. I want all that for toi too. But that's something I can't do.”
“I know. I'm just...tired of living like they never existed.”
“It's okay. Everything hurts the first few times. But it's always easier when someone is with you.”
“Promise me something, Dick.”
“Hmm?”
“As long as toi can help it, toi won't leave me.”
“I promise. Nothing is going to take me away from you.”
Becca turned, crying into his chest. Her cœur, coeur ached and she just wanted to die. Never had she felt so dead inside. Everything inside her screamed in pain. There was nothing she could do. It was long over. Everything was over.
“Mom, Dad? I miss you. I know you're better off but I want toi here. I know it's selfish but I just can't help and ache for you. I brought toi guys something.”
Becca placed two red roses each on her parents' graves.
“You always a dit how much toi l’amour each other. How toi always wanted me to find that special hero who would save me from the world. I found him. Yep, Dick Grayson.”
Becca paused a minute, trying to clear her tears.
“I knew you'd be proud mom. And dad? toi don't have to worry. He's taking good care of me. But I wanted to let toi know. I hope toi can see me with him. It's what I always dreamed of. And he treats me better than anyone else.”
Becca smiled a little, tears running down her cheeks in rivers.
“I l’amour you. You're never forgotten.”
Becca broke down and cried hard. Arms wrapped around her and Becca felt herself stand as Robin pulled her up. She stopped her tears, and looked at him.
“I feel better.”
“I'm glad. And I have a surprise.”
Robin pulled a remote out of his pocket and clicked a button. A song came pouring out and Becca threw her arms around Robin. She buried her head in his neck, feeling his strong arms emballage, wrap around her middle.
“How'd toi know?” she whispered.
“Something I took a guess at. Your parents had always danced at night. Back in the circus. I remember hearing this song and seeing their shadows déplacer behind the window.”
“You're amazing,” Becca whispered.
“Besides, we'll need the practice for our wedding.”
Becca smiled, allowing the song to take her away. When l’amour takes toi in, everything changes. A miracle starts with the beat of a heart. When l’amour takes toi accueil and says toi belong here. The loneliness ends and a new life begins. When l’amour takes toi in.
“I l’amour you,” Robin whispered.
“I l’amour you.”
If toi were to see this scene from a distance, toi would have found it odd that two young people were dancing in a graveyard. But if toi looked harder, toi could see two faces smiling above them. And that would never be forgotten.
Song: When l’amour Takes toi In par Steven Curtis Chapman. Just in case toi want to hear it.
