"Erica!" called a voice from my head.
I groaned. "What?"
"Wake up!" Megan shouted even louder.
My eyes fluttered open, finding myself tied to a wooden stake, along with the team. We were in a white room, filled with whirring machines.
"Where are we?" I asked, struggling with the ropes.
"We're in Darkseid's spaceship," Megan answered. "The ropes are blocked from my telepathy, so we have no way of getting out of here."
"ARE WE GETTING PROBED?!" KF yelled.
"Shut up!" I heard Artemis hiss.
Suddenly, a door opened from the wall, and Darkseid came in. His face was expressionless as he walked over to a padded table.
We watched in horror as he pressed a button, which uncovered Jeannette's body.
"What are toi doing?" I demanded.
He smirked. "I've always known the Joker was a lunatic, but to waste a gift like this..." he shook his head, and looked at us. "When she was alive, Jeannette Thomas was the most powerful thing in the world, what with her elements and Superman's powers."
Without thinking, I said, "Guess you're not so strong anymore, aren't you?"
His returning slap was so hard, I thought my cheeks were bleeding. Megan gasped as I cringed inside of my bonds.
"She was the only thing standing in my way in becoming the most powerful creature in the universe!" he roared, breaking the silence. "And now I will take her powers, without hesitation." He walked over the table, tableau and pressed a button.
"You idiot!" I yelled. "Switching powers would mess up the space-time continuim!"
He ignored me. "Granny, send the girls in. I want to make sure nothing happens during the operation."
We have to stop him!
"But how?" Aqualad asked.
The door opened again, and Granny Goodness and the Female Furies walked in with smug expressions.
Granny Goodness looked disapprovingly at Jeannette's body. "Earthlings are stupid. Her funeral dress is so last year."
"That's 'cause she died last year!" Superboy shouted.
Everyone looked at him in amazement. Conner was the least person in the world to defend someone like that.
Darkseid stepped into a chamber, and closed the door on himself. Granny turned some switches on, and the electricity that mounted was harmingly powerful.
After a few minutes, Darkseid came out. He flexed his arms.
"Interesting..." he snapped his fingers, and feu formed. "The Avatar..."
"What did toi do?!" I screamed.
"Don't toi see?" he pointed at Jeannette. "Taking her powers away would bring her back to life. She'll be with toi again, if only toi would let me have her powers."
"You're lying!" Megan shouted.
He laughed. "Girls, teach these Earthlings about obeying their superiors. I've got a planet to destroy."
Immediately, the bonds that tied us to the stake came off, and the Furies were after us again.
Aqualad heaved Stompa off of him. "Erica, stop him!"
I nodded, and ran off into the hallway, determined to stop him.

Even if it killed me.
