I didn't hesitate.I cannoned down into the water.Underneath,I saw Bella's still body floating toward the surface.Victoria was streaking toward her with amazing speed.I couldn't let this happen!I swam as fast as I could to Bella's drifting body.
The monster must have thought it was the whole pack because she twisted around and swam off to Who-Knows-Where!I grabbed Bella's collier with my powerful teeth and swam off to the bank.Once there,I dropped her and phased back.
I leaned down and did five hard chest compressions,then I leaned down and breathed hard in her mouth.I always dreamed of s’embrasser her,but not this way!I repeated the process a dozen times.Why wasn't she breathing?!?All of a sudden,she coughed up water,retching hard.
"Bella!"I said.
"Jake?"she hoarsely asked.Thank God!She was alive!"Come on,"I said."I've got to get toi home."
