1.His Sensitive Side
Jake may come off as a cocky, wise-cracking jokester, but he's definitely capable of reining in the sarcasm. When he's not playfully teasing Bella, he's seriously concerned for her well-being. After losing Edward, she spirals through depression, and the only one who can pull her out is her BFF Jake. He sympathizes with her heartbreak and offers her an (extremely strong!) shoulder to cry on.
2.His Werewolf Fever
Jacob seems to be Edward's polar opposite in every way, including body temperature. While vampires' skin feels icy cold (not surprising considering they're technically walking corpses), loups garous are burning up. Running an average temperature of 108 degrees, Jacob is like Bella's own personal heated blanket -- perfect for the cold, rainy Forks weather.
3.His Competitive Spirit
Most guys would be a little nervous to hit on a girl with a boyfriend -- especially when a dit boyfriend is a deadly predator. But Jacob isn't the least bit intimidated par Edward. He seems to thrive on the competition and isn't afraid to fight for Bella's attention.
4.His Boyish Charm
When Bella is first reunited with her childhood pal, she sees him as nothing plus than a sweet kid brother. He's two years younger, and, like most teen boys, he's a bit gangly and awkward. But there's something to be a dit for his kind eyes and innocent, goofy grin.
5.His Family Ties
Getting the family's approval when dating a new guy is crucial. So the fact that Jacob and Bella's dads have been best Friends for ages is an obvious plus. Jake won't have to worry about any intimidating "What are your intentions?" talks from Chief Swan. He's clearly on Team Jacob.
6.His Animal Instincts
Edward isn't Bella's only suitor living in the Supernatural world. In New Moon, Bella discovers Jacob's deepest secret: He has the ability to transform into an oversized, super-powerful wolf. But loups are really just bigger versions of dogs, right? And who doesn't want a cute, cuddly canine as a best friend?
7.His Strength
In Twilight, Jacob was the baby-faced kid brother. But over summer vacation he packed on about 30 lbs. of muscle and shot up to the height of an NBA player. According to the book, he's a startling 6'7", and he definitely trumps Edward in terms of size. Even without morphing into his wolfy alter ego, Jacob is plus than capable of fending off danger and protecting his loved ones.
8.His Rugged Style
Edward may be a style maven, but Jacob doesn't need fancy designer duds. He looks good in anything. And we don't know any other guy who can look this cute in cut-offs. Jorts? Jake totally pulls 'em off.
9.His Human Appetite
Unlike Edward, Jacob eats nourriture -- normal, meat-and-potatoes food. He can actually take Bella out to dîner and dine with her in a restaurant. No one likes to eat alone -- and girls certainly don't like to eat with their significant other staring them down with every bite. So, a boyfriend toi can divisé, split a dessert with wins huge bonus points.
10.His Rescue Missions
Compared to practical, reserved Edward, Jacob is definitely a wild child. He's not opposed to introducing Bella to a little danger -- like motorcyle riding and cliff diving -- as long as he's around to protect her. And when she goes overboard in her thrill-seeking and nearly drowns in the ocean, he's right there to save her.
11.His Best Friend Status
Some of the best romances begin as friendships. (Harry and Sally! Monica and Chandler!) Jacob scores major points with Bella par being such a good friend. He's intensely loyal and always willing to help her out. Whether it's teaching her to ride a motorcyle ou helping her get over being dumped, he's always supportive. Plus, the fact that they have fun together and connect as pals is a huge plus.
12.His Obvious Security
When Bella listens to her heart, all it says is, "Edward." But if she'd listen to her head, she'd know Jacob is the logical choice. Edward must constantly fight his instincts and restrain his intense thirst for Bella's blood. Because Jacob doesn't struggle with any urges to harm Bella, he's clearly the safer choice. She's free to get close without constantly worrying about becoming his suivant meal.
