I was wondering, in the film Twilight, how did Bella make the connection between Waylons dead body and Edward?

Carlisle gave Edward a pretty obvious "look" when he says animal attack outside the police station, wouldnt she have picked up on that? And then when she's in the le dîner, salle à manger with Charlie doesnt he tell the waitress that they found a human footprint. So she is suspicious of a creature with human features.. and then when she realised what Edward is, and hears that his family is good, it must be other vampires.
