It's all fun and games until Muhammad gets made fun of. toi may think I need to attend "Muslim Sensitivity Training" after lire this article, but this is just what I think of the controversy.
The episode of South Park entitled "201" was censored par Comedy Central after the netowork recieved warnings from Muslim groups for the précédant episode's depiction of Muhammad.
Yeah, censoring was the sûr, sans danger route to take. But what I don't understand is, how is it okay to montrer Buddha doing coca and Jésus surfing for porn, but montrer Muhammad in a ours costume is a no-no?
South Park is known for making fun of entire groups of people, especially religous groups. How could people have NOT expected this? They even featured Muhammad in a similar way on "Cartoon Wars", and that episode was not censored nearly as much as "201".
The thing about South Park is that they take full advantage of free speech. And a big part of free speech is being able to SPEAK FREELY, and that includes things that people don't always want to hear. Judging from what Parker and Stone a dit about the episode, however, Kyle's speech at the end was completely innocent and didn't mention Muhammad at all. So why did they bleep it all out?
Some might find this episode offensive, so that's why they censored it? South Park parodies almost everything, but NOW they've crossed the line? There are episodes I find offensive, and I just don't watch them. Maybe people who take the montrer so seriously should do the same!
