This idea came basically out of me going through various roleplays that I had done, and thinking of ways they could have gone differently. I thought about if character’s origins were different, ou if they made different choices, ou fell in l’amour with different people. I got to the point even where I considered making a completely rebooted-second-non-cannon series of everything, where the characters would be edited and the plots changed.
It wasn’t going to be too different. Like how there would still be the Refine with Mobocan, Identities would be plus ou less the same, but ideas like Rynk coming from some India-like country and having different DNA’s than before, ou having Virus still be Virus Prime, instead of our current Virus.
Obviously this would be too much work, but some of these ideas would be used, and I do plan on using them in the future at some point. But then I started thinking about if they were in other worlds, other realities, where the characters were themselves, but in a way that would match the world they lived in.
Some might recall that I tried to do a Resident Evil Forum, where I asked people to join, and not enough did. That was the beginning of the whole idea; taking the characters and putting them in the roles of Resident Evil characters. I thought it worked well, and I’d be lying if I didn’t want to have Melcro all Albert Wesker like in it, with Saber being Ada Wong, ou maybe Rynk.
But again, it didn’t see the light of day, but the idea of humans stuck around. “Why not just have it in our world, and make it so they’re all normal humans, but with different traits that make them like their counterparts?” I was excited to try this idea.
I first pitched the idea that it would be a giant group story, where while I’d do the writing, the plots would be created par everyone, and if others wanted to write, they could to. Some people were excited, but no one else actually tried it. That was okay though because people still sent their characters to be in my IAW series.
But I needed a protagonist. I needed someone people knew, but at the same time someone who wasn’t going to stand out so much like Rin ou Rynk would. I thought maybe Lizzy from the Lizzy Eventide Series, but I had enough female lead roles (no offense to any girls). So I almost decided on either Craiger, ou Logan.
I couldn’t do either in the end. Logan was too much of a pretty boy, who would be a better side character, and Craiger didn’t stand out, but at the same time he didn’t have a very developable character at the point of the story that I would be using him from.
Then I realized that I had a perfect character already for this. Dave Hyatt. Why? Because Dave is a completely normal guy throughout everything. He doesn’t have powers, he doesn’t fight, he’s just a guitarist in a rock band that ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
So as far as relationships went I ended up having Jenna being Dave’s older sister, since Jenna being the protector of Mobius Academy would be logical for her to be sisterly protective. I of course had Rin, Virus (Ira Idens), and houx be relatives, with Device (Dia Vice), being a friend of Ira’s, instead of a family member from being an identity.
Some l’amour lifes I would change, like how Talon, Rin’s l’amour interest, isn’t in the story (though he does play a role), Rynk has had no l’amour interest of yet, Kyle and Casey aren’t together, but Grace and Craiger… I couldn’t divisé, split them apart, I just couldn’t.
Basically the current idea of the story is having the plots that the characters came from, in a version that is realistic for our world. Don’t worry I won’t be doing JUST those plots, I mainly have them for backstories, not current stories.
Another good thing about the story is that I could add characters that wouldn’t normally be able to appear in the same timeline as the main characters, like Halem and Saber who are future characters, and some characters I plan to have from the Lizzy Eventide story pop up.
I plan to bring in other characters as it goes along, and make a new questionnaire for those who want their characters added who didn’t get them in originally. I will be continuing the series as best I can.
