I swear sometimes but I usually swear when I am frustrated. Others, it just becomes a habit. I'm not really sure, to me they are just words, inappropriate words but still just words. Like my dad, he swears a lot, mostly, again, out of frustration, but I mostly try to ignore it. I'm really not sure why people like it. I'm just saying what I know.

Totally agree. Everyone used it as a habit. Even if they're not in mad mood, they're still saying bad words. Gah!
Swearing actually does help relieve pain. Studies prove that it works. On a personal level it makes me feel better. For example if someone cuts me off on the road instead of honking and causing road rage I'll just swear loudly to myself and be done with it.
Pretty much what everyone else said. It relieves stress. It's unusual for me to swear. I'll admit that excessive swearing makes me a little uncomfortable and doesn't leave a friendly impression, but I can ignore it/ don't let it bother me.
I only swear when I am mad ou upset. I have no clue why, but it makes me calm down a lot quicker when I swear, rather than when I substitute in good words for swear words. Around kids obviously I won't swear, but when I am alone I'll go off on a rant, and best believe swear words will be in there. There are some words I avoid though. I avoid the P word, the C word, and the N word.
As a way to add emphasis when they express themselves.
Let's be honest, here's an example: if someone says "I had a bad jour at work today, the boss wasn't nice" it doesn't sound nearly as impactful and emotionally charged as "I had a sh*t jour at work today, the boss was a f*cking prick".
