How can I take video clips from my own DVDs?

I see lots of vids where people have taken clips from their own copies and used them in their movies. How can I do that?

What I do is I download a 'hypercam' (which is free from the internet), play my movie in windows media player (or whatever programme toi use to play DVDs), and use the hypercam to record any bits of the movie I need. It's really quite simple :D

I just wanted to say that :D only I use fraps. It works better than hypercam (my opinion)
