What's your first thought once toi see this picture :( ?


Farai Chideya talks to Dan Krauss, the director of The Death of Kevin Carter, an Oscar-nominated documentary about the life, work and suicide of a Pulitzer-prize winning South African photojournalist.

Carter's winning photo shows a heart-breaking scene of a starving child collapsed on the ground, struggling to get to a nourriture center during a famine in the Sudan in 1993. In the background, a vautour stalks the emaciated child.

Carter was part of a group of four fearless photojournalists known as the "Bang Bang Club" who traveled throughout South Africa capturing the atrocities committed during apartheid.

Haunted par the horrific images from Sudan, Carter committed suicide in 1994 soon after receiving the award.

It's just so sad for me to see these kind of pictures. I mean seriously we are all lucky to be able to have something to eat everyday.Whenever I don't wanna eat my nourriture my dad always reminds about how lucky I am to have nourriture everyday and that in Africa kids die because they got nothing to eat.So we should all be grateful of what we have.

But my thought was, "Poor child. I want to help him. Sadly, I'm not rich, maybe I could try to raise SOME money..."

i don't even know how to respond. my eyes started to tear up. i can see how this man would want to commit suicide just par a little picture he and his crew took.

oh...this is just breathtakingly depressing...i feel so guilty that i have it so well in my family while this kind of atrocity happens every day...

i feel so sick right now...

I am NOT saying this is fake, but that is just how it looks to me. And if I really saw this, I probably would kill myself too.
