The sun was setting on the Central Park Zoo. The police and reporters have left, so all was quiet again. Alice came back from the police station, but is still on the haut, retour au début of the suspect list. The police are keeping a close eye on her, and escorted her home.

All the animaux were gathered around the tables nearby the giftshop. Skipper, his fellow comrades, and Marlene were on haut, retour au début of a table, tableau looking down upon their neighbors.

Skipper silenced the crowd and spoke.

"As toi all should know, Darla's life has been taken just last night."

He was interupted.

"Who's Darla?" Julien gave Skipper a skeptical look.

Skipper stared at Julien in bewilderment, and got back to his announcement.

"How she died is unfortunately obvious-" He cringed as he remembered the sight of Darla's body, blood everywhere... the cœur, coeur yanked right out of her chest... "-But the psychopath who killed her is still unknown, hiding within the shadows." Skipper looked around the crowd.

Joey spoke up. "Do toi have any suspects?"

"Everyone is a suspect."

Marlene shivered and turned to look at the leader. "W-Will it happen again?"

"I was getting to that. Whether the killer will strike again ou this was just a one-shot is vague. For all we know, this maniac could have just hated Darla with an abnormal passion. But this could also be a serial killer, waiting for the right moment to take another life."

"What do toi know about the killer?" Mason questioned.

Skipper turned to Kowalski.

Kowalski faced the crowd and spoke.
"According to my calculations, this murderer is not in his right mind. Something in our enviroment clicked in his brain, setting him off. He may be confused par his actions, and is afraid and unsure of what to make of what he had done. ou perhaps he is fully aware of his killing, and did it out of anger - maybe something tragic recently happened in his life - ou out of pleasure - he does it to satisfy his derranged needs, which would classify him as a sociopath."

"So our killer should stand out from the rest of us, then...?" Roger thought.

"Not necessarily. Our killer can hide his feelings from us, and strike when we least expect it - if he's a sociopath, that is. If he's psycho, then it would depend how his mind works - if something in his brain clicks randomly, ou only when our backs are turned. Right now it is hard to tell who - ou what - he is."

Marlene glanced at Kowalski, impressed. She expected him to stumble over his words, and make a complete fool out of himself.

Kowalski backed away from the crowd, and Skipper took his place.

Joey spoke. "So, the killer might not know he's a killer? So it could be toi ou me?"

Skipper shrugged. "Like I said, anyone's a suspect.

1:58 AM

He waddled up to the giftshop, the door automatically opening for him. He stepped inside, and the door shut, darkness consuming him.
A liquid dripped down from his forhead. He wiped it off with his flipper and licked it. He was sweating blood.

Skipper smiled into the shadows. "What do toi want?"

He was answered par the same low growl he heard before.

He laughed. "You're gonna have to do plus then that to scare me!"

The same whispy voice he heard last night bounced off the walls, penetrating him.

"Come play, Skipper."

"What do toi want from me?"

"It's okay, Skipper."

"Answer me!"

"It's okay to die, Skipper."

"What do toi want from me?!"

"It's okay to die..."

"ANSWER MY DAMN QUESION!!" Skipper boomed, plus blood dripping rapidly off his face.

A roar escalated, growing louder and louder, almost deafening, shaking the whole room.

Then silence.

A metal box appeared in front of Skipper. He stared down at it, and it opened.

Inside was at least ten hearts, still alive and pounding.

The box slid aside, and something else appeared in front of the now-frightened penguin.

A glowing light. Except it wasn't a light. It was another penguin. Female. Her ice-cold eyes stared passionately into Skipper's, smiling joyfully. Skipper Lost his breath. This manchot, pingouin was beautiful, like none he had ever seen before.

She swiftly waddled up to Skipper until she was inches away from him. Then she planted her beak to his, s’embrasser him with so much enthusiasm that Skipper almost fell over. He regained his control and kissed her back, the bliss overtaking him. It was nothing like he had ever felt before. Was he in heaven?

Then, to Skipper's disappointment, the female pulled away. Her pleasant smile turning drastically, grinning at Skipper with pure evil and insanity.

She laughed and spoke. Her voice was like a soft breeze, racing towards him in a whisper.

"It's okay to die, Skipper."

She laughed again and vanished into thin air.

Skipper's cœur, coeur pounded in his chest, his vision blurring, the room spinning...

Skipper woke with a fright, his cœur, coeur still pounding. His breathing finally slowed and everything was silent again as he realized his was in his bunk.

Skipper sighed and laid back down, staring up at the ceiling. He closed his eyes.

A scream broke the silence.

Three days passed and Skipper finally decided that the late night training exercises were not doing anyone any good. No one really knew why he had come to this conclusion, but perhaps he thought it was affecting Kowalski’s mind, as Kowalski had changed throughout the last three days.

Kowalski used to hate musique and generally only tolerated it if it was soft and not repetitive and annoying. Now, he already listened to every record the penguins owned and even played them while he was fiddling with an invention. On jour three, he finally packed up all of his inventions and threw them into a corner,...

Skipper had taken his time to get back from Marlene’s so he could piece together the best words to explain his and Marlene’s relationship, especially to young Private.

He entered through the fishbowl entrance as he usually would, and turned to face his team. Much to his surprise the three were standing facing him, almost as if they expected him.

“Skipper I believe there’s something toi need to tell these two.” Kowalski stated as he motioned his flipper first towards Rico then Private. The two of the stared at Skipper anxiously, waiting to hear what Kowalski was talking about.

Unfortunate for the chercher to conclude in failure. Of course, one couldn’t complain when two of the three penguins that engaged the mission had been lacking in effort. The third penguin, Rico, had found something rather interesting. A gray crowbar partially stained with blood of seemingly unknown origin. Normally, the explosives expert tended to avaler, hirondelle any sort of object that sparked his interest, which, in this case, was so.

Now, at this point, Skipper and Kowalski really didn’t care for Private’s case, much to the small penguin’s delight. And then, typically, life went on as it had,...

In fact, that night, Private had much difficulty in falling asleep. Simply the thought of a friend who was in need prevented the manchot, pingouin from sleeping. He wondered if Rico was awake, too. He certainly hoped not. Private only wished the best for the regurgitating penguin.

Suddenly, a noise from below grasped Private’s full attention. On first inspection, it was difficult to determine what the sound was. Luckily, Private merely turned his head to the side and caught the perfect glimpse of Rico’s back. The heavyset manchot, pingouin was slowly heading towards the television. This baffled Private, for...

Despite the fact that it was well early in the morning, the injured Private was donné a few hours to himself for rest and recovery. Skipper stayed true to his word, being sure as to give Private his privacy throughout the entire day. Having done this, the leader also granted the rest of the team absolute freedom for the day. Hopefully, this would give the other penguins some time to themselves. After Private’s unexpected disappearance, it was probably for the best.

Taking advantage of these moments, Kowalski chose to sit in a corner of the room, écriture all of his thoughts on his notepad....

Part Two

Alice breaks the bottle against the haut, retour au début of the cage and the glass shatters everywhere. She places the couteau right in front of the cage door. She opens the cage.

A: Now toi can get out! Let’s see if toi are smart enough!!!

She stares at them and waits.

S: We aren’t gonna get out like this! Rico!
R: Blaghhh (he pukes a handglider and they all hold on to some ones leg. Alice watches with fury)

The rats lead Skipper away on the steel cage. This time he knew better than to struggle, he might as well save his energy for what was coming. ‘Well,’ thinks Skipper ‘I guess that this is the moment of truth.’ The sound of footsteps and the repugnant smell went away after a while and a few moments later Skipper felt himself being lowered down again. The cover is pulled away; Skipper blinks in the sudden light as his eyes adjust. In front of him stood Kowalski, Rico, and Private, all seeming exceedingly happy. Skipper was back inside his lair. The rats climb back outside chuckling as...

Skipper: Kowalski? Rico? Private? Anyone? All my men seem to be gone. Perhaps they’re at Marlene’s.
[He sneaks over to Marlene’s habitat, careful to not be seen]
Skipper: Marlene? Marlene! She seems to be gone to! This must be a complot, but from who? The only suspicious activity I have seen came from…[Gasps] Kowalski!
[Skipper quickly rushes to the maki, lémurien habitat. After much searching (even underneath the "RoyalThrone")he finds it empty]
Skipper: No! Not the lemurs too!...

Kowalski looks in the cup and sees one Candy wrapper along with a button.) At this rate centuries.
Skipper: We are depending on Rico and Private now.

All four penguins stared at her in awe, "You used to work for Dr.Blowhole?" Private said. Victoria nodded, Skipper continued to glare at her and Kowalski looked heartbroken. "But, as I a dit I no longer do and he probaly has no idea I'm still living." Victoria repeated, seeing Kowalski's look. She didn't know why, but something about him made her feel... well.... diffrent. She couldn't discribe what it felt like, it wasn't a bad feeling, but just a feeling. Suddenly, there was a noise, the TV turned on. Victoria's eyes widened in horror. On it was someone she...

The penguins where asleep, crammed together in the little l’espace there was.

Except for Skipper. He got little sleep due to the lack of room. He kept himself busy par daydreaming. He dreamed of his accueil back in Central Park, imagined what Ecuador would look like, and most importantly, he thought about Heidi. He kept on reminding himself that the whole reason why they are heading to another continent and into the unimaginable was Heidi.

Skipper missed her. He could almost...
