My Little Poney Article: Insane About Ponies

My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic. How did we all come to this? It makes no sense for so many level-headed people to suddenly become obsessed with ponies. T-shirts, toys, fanart, computer games--people are really getting into this. Think back a few years. What would toi think if I told toi that toi would be a huge fan of the new My Little poney cartoon? It sounds insane, yet here we are.

Everyone needs something happy and feel-good, toi have to admit it. Most entertainment today is tainted with sadness, darkness, and what-not. People might make fun of us for watching a children's show, but they're missing out on something good. Beyond that, it's just a good show. It's well written, has great characters, funny jokes, and good morals. It may be designed for kids, but I don't feel like a sissy for watching this show. After lire an interview with Lauren Faust (if toi haven't read it, I recommend it), I saw plus of the depth of the show. She and the others who work on the montrer have worked hard to make a high-quality montrer that has a good influence on its viewers. Not just empty entertainment, but holding quality. I think they have accomplished this well. Kudos to you, Lauren Faust and company.

fishypup Great article. I could not agree more with everything you said. I'm glad to say that I've been a fan of FiM since it premiered last year, and it has really been an experience to watch the bronyhood blossom (or perhaps explode) and thrive all over the world as it's gone on. I'm so grateful to all the fellow fans for helping to turn the show into a really big deal, because it would have been a terrible shame for it to have been ignored and canceled prematurely--which can easily happen to such worthy, but underrated, series. I definitely share your opinions and, I'm sure, almost all fellow bronies'! Given my obsessive nature and love of so many fictional characters, movies, etc., I can honestly say that I wouldn't have been too incredulous at the suggestion that I'd become a humongous fan of a new MLP cartoon. I definitely WOULD, however, have had a hard time believing any prediction of the REST of the fandom, and THEIR behavior! The idea that there are so many grown folks out there thinking about ponies, watching ponies, singing pony songs, making extremely imaginative and high-quality pony creations, buying pony merchandise, wearing pony clothes, cracking pony jokes, passing along pony memes, getting us acknowledged in the media (especially by Hasbro/Hub themselves)...well, it is sort of mind-blowingly awesome! I try my best to explain it all to people, and they always (understandably) have a hard time taking me seriously. I'm just happy that there are all these other fans also taking such a colorful, positive, well-made cartoon seriously. =) Lauren Faust and the whole pony-makin' team are brilliant, terrific people, to whom owe eternal gratitude. ^^ From the looks of things, new Bronies are being converted to the Magic side daily. People may scoff for a while at first, but if they give the show even half a chance, it stands a GREAT chance of winning them over with its sheer epic goodness. (I've read tales of former pony haters/Brony trolls being reformed into Bronies.)
