THESE ARE ENTRIES TO A WASHINGTON POST COMPETITION ASKING FOR A TWO-LINE RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE, BUT THE LEAST ROMANTIC seconde LINE:

Marrying toi screwed up my life.

I don't know how I'll live without my parents, because I realize that they are the only people I'll always have. Friends don't last forever, and partners don't either. But your parents... they stick with toi from the beginning until the very end. Even when they leave the world, their memory and their wise lessons guide toi throughout life. The l’amour your parents have for toi is the strongest l’amour ever felt par humans. And I think it would be idiotic to say otherwise.
