(Wilson immediately tried to hide his embarrassment.)

House: Wait. Why are toi here, who’s with the baby?

(Cuddy stepped inside House’s office, still montrer signs of awkwardness.)

Cuddy: My mom. Now tell me.

Wilson: It was nothing, really.

Cuddy: Huh. Sure. toi can go.

(Wilson smoothly left House’s office, moving like the wind past Cuddy.)

House: toi shouldn’t be putting all toi hopes on this kid.

Cuddy: Like toi care.

(House couldn’t bring himself to say what he really wanted to say—he was afraid to be House in this situation.)

(Cuddy stepped closer towards House, who was still slouched behind his desk.)

Cuddy: I am happy, for the first time in my life—

House: That is so not true.

(Cuddy looked down and smiled sarcastically.)

House: toi want her to be a means to an end. What toi don’t realise is that toi are looking in the wrong place.

Cuddy: And, toi know where I should be looking?

House: toi know where to look. Though, toi continue to withdraw from what toi want and need.

Cuddy: Is it me you’re talking about, ou is it this you?

(House looked hopelessly into Cuddy’s eyes, which conveyed a slight sadness, and at the same time frustration.)

Cuddy: I have to go, I only came in to help Cameron anyway.

(Cuddy was about to leave before a puzzled House called her back.)

House: Then why did toi come up to see me?

(Cuddy looked at him with a feeling of uncertainty of whether ou not to continue the conversation, before she finally opened the door and left. Leaving House bewildered.)

(It was later in the evening. Cuddy’s mother was sitting with her in Cuddy’s living room; Cuddy was drinking her seconde glass of wine. Cuddy’s mother was looking after Emily whilst Cuddy un-winded.)

Cuddy’s mother: She’s beautiful Lisa.

Cuddy: She is, isn’t she.

(Cuddy was in a melancholy mood.)

Cuddy’s mother: I’m sorry I wasn’t here for you. How were you?

(Cuddy snapped out of her daydream, whilst continuing to drink her way through another bottle of win.)

Cuddy: I gave-up on crying. At one point I thought I saw a light at the end of the tunnel but it doesn’t matter.

Cuddy’s mother: Go on-tell me.

(Cuddy sat up a bit, and looked into her wine glass.)

Cuddy: toi remember that boy from college.

Cuddy’s mother: Well dear there wasn’t many.

(Cuddy let out a slight laugh under her breath.)

Cuddy: Greg.

Cuddy’s mother: Oh, I remember Greg. toi two were like two peas in a pod, such a sweet young man.

(Cuddy smiled coyly, still looking at her wine glass.)

Cuddy: Yeah, well. He’s changed a lot since then.

(Cuddy’s mother laughed slightly.)

Cuddy’s mother: So what about him?

Cuddy: Long story short: He’s an cul, ass now because of the infarction in his leg from years ago. He is now addicted to a legal amphetamine drug and he is the best doctor I’ve hired since I became Dean of Medicine.
(Cuddy’s mother looked at Cuddy and smiled gently, as Cuddy continued to look away.)

Cuddy’s mother: Let me guess. You’ve fallen for him again.

(Cuddy smiled shyly.)

Cuddy’s mother: I don’t know why it’s such a problem. Greg likes toi now plus than he ever did before.

(Cuddy looked up at her mother confused.)

Cuddy: How do toi know?

(Cuddy’s mother laughed slightly, and sat suivant to Cuddy on the sofa and held her hand.)

Cuddy’s mother: He called me up weeks ago, very polite he was as well. Well, he asked me about your old med school bureau toi were so fond of.

(Cuddy’s eyes lit up.)

Cuddy: He did that?

Cuddy’s mother: Yeah. toi sound so surprised.

Cuddy: Believe me, it’s once in a blue moon.

(Cuddy began to tear up slightly.)

(Cuddy’s mother took the wine glass out of Cuddy’s hand, put it on the table, tableau and then hugged her daughter.)

(Cuddy began to tear up even more.)

Cuddy: Why do I suck so bad at relationships? I always ruin them some how.

Cuddy’s mother: I don’t remember your fling with Greg being a failure.

(Cuddy’s mother looked Cuddy in the eye and wiped away her tears.)

Cuddy’s mother: toi don’t realise how lucky toi are Lisa.

(Cuddy smiled slightly. Then the baby began to cry in the background.)

Cuddy’s mother: I’ll go and check on her.

Cuddy: Thank you.

(Cuddy’s mother smiled at Cuddy before she left the room.)

(Cuddy was left sitting alone in her living room; the 2 bottles of wine were empty.)

(There was a knock on the door.)

Cuddy: I’ll get it.

(Cuddy dragged herself up off of the sofa, and dragged her feet until she opened the door.)

(Cuddy stood there surprised.)

Cuddy: Hi.
