A Happy Life: Chapter 8

[Early morning in PPTH and nurses and doctors are bustling around the doing their jobs. Wilson is sitting in his office reviewing some files. The team are up in the differential room going over files of their latest patent while having coffee. House enters the hospital lobby. House walks into the differential room.]

House:[singing]Lets spend the night together.Ill satisfy your every need (every need)And I
now know toi will satisfy me.Oh my, my, my, my, my Lets spend the night together.Now I need toi plus than ever Lets spend the night together now.

[Foreman,Taub, and 13 all look up at House as he waltzes into the room singing. All 3 of them look at each other and smile.]

Taub: What took toi so long?What has toi in such a good mood?
House: Traffic, and the walk in.. I’m a cripple remember.
Foreman: 35 yr old man, chest pains and
House: cœur, coeur attack..
13: His cœur, coeur checks out. An echo was done.
House: Foreman and Taub go to the patients house and look around. 13 I want the echo redone and a CT of the chest. I'm going to go check in with Caring Wilson.

[House exits the room and heads towards Wilson's office. House enters the office as Wilson looks up with a why do I bother shutting my door look.]

Wilson: Come in House make yourself at home.
House: I think Cuddy is pregnant.

[Wilson drops his pen and almost spits the coffee out that he was sipping]

Wilson: You, she, how? When? That’s great.. How do toi feel about it House?
House: I'm not sure. Kid with my genes is bound to be scewed up.

[House gets up and walks over to the glass door and looks out the window.]
Wilson: Did Cuddy take a pregnancy test? Are toi sure?
House: She has been getting sick for a week ou so. I told to have some blood work done this morning when she brought Rachel in for hers.
Wilson: How do toi think Cuddy will feel about it?
House: She has wanted a kid for years.. then she got Rachel.. She looked so happy. But its with me. I screw everything up. I don't know what kind of father..
Wilson: House just because your relationship with your father was strained doesn't mean toi will be the same way. I've seen a change in you. It’s a change for the good since you've come back from Mayfield.
House: I don't want to hurt Cuddy. What if I screw up. This is the only me she gets..What if a baby changes everything.

[House limps towards the door and stops at it.]

Wilson: House toi will be fine. Cuddy will be fine. And If she is pregnant .the baby will be fine. toi can work through it. That’s what couples do everyday..

[House limps out of the office and down the hall. House's phone vibrates and he flips it open.]

House: yes mistress..
Cuddy: I'm up in my office.
House: I'll be right up .

suivant day, they wake up and go to the hospital. Cuddy is working in her office and the alarm clock sounds. She picks up the phone and calls him. ‘Greg? Can toi come to my office?’
‘Right coming for another injection of love!!’
‘It even sounds good that way...’ They hang up and in some minutes he is there.
‘Good morning sunshine, let's see that gorgeous cul, ass of yours!!!’ He prepares a syringe while Cuddy draws the curtains and goes to the table. ‘Do I really have to go through this twice a day...?’ She lifts her jupe and turns, leaning on the table, giving her back to House....

Cuddy wakes up after a making-children-night. House is still asleep and Lisa smiles looking at him and thinking how cute and nice he looks when he’s sleeping. Finally House sighs and opens his eyes slowly. ‘Morning...’
‘Hey...’ Whispers Cuddy. ‘Did toi sleep well? Happy New Year, and I warn you, I will say it during the whole day.’
He chuckles. ‘I slept very well and... if you're gonna say it the whole day, I'll ignore toi the whole day...’
‘Okay, I will say it just a few plus times, I don’t feel like toi ignoring me the whole day.’
‘Good... nice choice...’ They smile....

It's Christmas Eve and yet they have to work some hours in the hospital. When they get accueil after a hard jour of work, they make their Christmas dîner together and sit at the table. Some time later they finish eating. ‘Wow I'm full...’ Lisa says.
‘Yeah... toi look like a turkey in Thanks Giving...’
‘Your compliments are getting worse with time...’
‘I mean... like the most beautiful turkey in a farm...’
She chuckles. ‘That doesn't make me feel better...’
‘Fuck... well... I tried...’
‘You wanna eat something else?’
‘Nope... don't wanna know how...

House opens the door without knocking. ‘Busy?’ He sits down.
‘No, but don't worry, toi can keep on entering without knocking...’ Says Wilson looking at his friend. ‘So... did toi go? Did toi find her?’
‘Yep...’

‘So...?’ He look at House expectant.
‘At first she just a dit no... but this morning she came to my house. We're together again....’
‘Wow...’ Wilson looks at he surprised. ‘I'm glad for you... for both of you. Why do toi always get what toi want?’
‘I'm that good...’
Lisa knocks and gets in. ‘I knew I’d find toi here.’
‘I'm becoming so predictable...’...

suivant morning she wakes up early, has her douche and breakfast and sends a message to Lucas to go to have dîner with him tonight. She waits until House gets to her home. He is there on time and when Cuddy goes out, he gives her the helmet. ‘Hey...’
‘Thanks for coming...’ Says Lisa.
‘It's nothing...’
About twenty minutes later they get to the hospital. ‘Thanks again.’ Says her giving him the helmet. He nods.
‘You want me to take toi later to my home? I mean... so toi can call someone to fix your car...’
‘If it's not too much trouble...’
‘It's okay... come to my office when...

They stay huged for a while watching TV until someone knocks at the door.
‘I’ll go.’ Lisa stands up and opens it.
‘Hi... how is he? Is he here? Why didn’t toi tell me that he had awakened from the coma?’ Asks Wilson.
‘Yes, he is here. Come in.’ Lisa opens the door and he comes in.
‘Oh God...’ Whispers House.
‘Hey how are you? How do toi feel? I was... we were really scared.’

suivant morning Lisa gets up at lunch time and goes straight to have a shower, she doesn’t even know if he has come back yet and she doesn’t want to go to his room just in case they ended up at his bed. When she goes out of the bathroom, she bumps into him who is waiting near the door to have his shower.

She doesn’t know what to say.

They go to the airport quite nervous. Once there, she looks at the arrivals panel and House starts looking around. ‘Here they are...’
Cuddy’s parents walk towards her to hug her. ‘Hi mum, dad!’ They hug and House approaches but keeps a prudent distance from all of them.
‘Hi my little girl. I've missed you.’
‘Oh dear, it’s so good to see you. We were looking vers l'avant, vers l’avant to coming here!! And who's your escort?’ Her mum looks at House.

In the morning House, without rush, takes a shower, gets dressed and gets to the hospital at nine o’clock. First stop, of course, the cafeteria, where Cuddy runs into him.

The situation is awkward, because they are no longer on vacation and they’re still together and feeling like if they were. When they get dressed, they go to do the shopping. Before coming back to her home, Cuddy drives House to his place and helps him a little to clean up. After a while someone calls and House picks up the phone.
‘Yeah?’
‘House? Hi!! How are you!?? When did toi come back? Why didn’t toi call me?’

It was Christmas Eve, Wilso and Mel were in House's house. Wilso and House had prepared turkey, had invited House's mom and Cuddy's parents. Wilson and House were preparing the dining room for dîner while everyone else was in the room admiring Jean.
