i love house on haunted hill, me, my sister and my brother watched it when i was little and i still love it

I could also have chosen Beetlejuice or Poltergeist. But this is a true classic!

I never actually saw the movie poltergeist, but i saw a show on the making of it, and it looked so good!

i picked an american haunting because there were scenes in that movie that actually scared me, like when the girls delocalised soul picked her up by her hair and pulled her across the rom and up onto the side of her room. that was some scary stuff. and i was pleased to see a deviation from all the bloody slashers although they are not bad, a little change is good every now and then

I had to add this one. How could u have missed adding it! Even though it takes place in a hotel that in the long run just has a personality of it's own that just happens to be evil I still coult it as a hounded house story. STANLEY CRUBRIC ROCKS!!!!!!! EXEPT FOR EYES WIDE SHUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT MOVIE WAS STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i purposely left the shining off cause i kinda don't consider it a haunted house movie, though i can see how it can be. the shining is in a league of it's own in my opinion

It's the best movie about a haunted house (literally).

definately 'The Haunting' (original)... I saw this one when I was really young, and every shadow and sound in the house started to scare me after that. What a fine pick for me to watch the first time I ever stayed at home alone :O

I also agree about 'The Shining' being in a league of its own.

Easy choice for me, Beetlejuice wasn't too frightening, but it WAS amazing story, great cast...I just love it!

I picked this movie because it has the best line at the end. When the spirits are coming for Taye Diggs he shouts out "I'm Adopted." I loved that because I am adopted and I would so do that to live.

im picking all because i have quite a few favs in that category. but beetlejuice is one of my top favs.
