This is a human horror story in as much as nothing Supernatural happens but this is indeed a horrific, disturbing tale.
In my opinion, Arthur, the bad guy of this piece stands right up there with some of the plus well known horror story baddies. We first meet him as a child and already he's twisted little soul which, as we follow him through his life, only gets worse.
Arthur is like a human black-hole where nearly everyone who comes into contact with him ends up damaged par him. But, he is handsome and successful and plus than able to deflect any notion that he is indeed evil with charm.
The meat of the story deals with his marriage to Lydia, a strong-willed, beautiful nurse who already has one marriage behind her and spots Arthur across a crowded room. Everything's fine at first. The two marry and have a child called Robert. But, the reader knows exactly what Arthur is really like and Ketchum keeps up the tension as we are just waiting for the monster to montrer his claws. We fear for Lydia, every time she disagrees with him, every time she doesn't go along with Arthur's increasingly strange sexual habits, we think now, now is the time he's going to explode and take her with him and when he doesn't, when he continues to be the calm affable guy toi allow yourself to think that maybe he's changed. But, he hasn't, of course and then he attacks, brutally beating Lydia to within an inch of her life. Although it's disturbing to read, Lydia is no victim, she doesn't fall into the trap of forgiving and forgetting like many characters in these types of stories do. She is very proactive and fierce, but worse is to come. Her son Robert, suffers with a plethora of nervous conditions which, up until now Lydia has put down to stress ou shyness of the boy. But a horrible realization dawns on her that Arthur was also abusing the boy.
Lydia is desperate to protect her child but here every attempt is thwarted par a biased judge, smarmy lawyer ou her ex husband's slyness. It is as much frustrating for the reader as it is for Lydia and the fear that builds up when Arthur sets his sights on the ultimate punishment for betrayal,is immense. Finally Lydia has enough and resorts to violence as her only solution.
This is a great read, creepy, fraught with tension and emotion and with an ongoing side-plot of a cop trying to track down a vicious serial-rapist and killer that collides with the main story head-on. It's also a hard read as Ketchum doesn't skimp on the dirty, nasty details and nor should he, to do anything else would be a cop-out. Another brilliant novel par Jack Ketchum. Just don't expect a happy ending.
Teenager Matt moves to a new town. Feeling lonely and uncomfortable, he welcomes the kindness his new teacher Ms Hayden shows him...not to mention the teacher being easy on the eye. His teenage dreams soon comes true when Ms Hayden draws closer to the boy and starts to respond to his fumbling advances but in a truly nasty twist on 'beware what toi wish for' mythos, Ms Hayden soon turns into a monstrosity of a woman who has murderous intent, cunning and evil running deep through her veins.
Matt world is turned upside down in hellish fashion and the few Friends he has managed to gain also becomes...

Take a gay club add a bunch of zombies and what do toi get? This refreshing take on the zombie apocalypse myth. Gone are the stereotypical collection of survivors that we normally get in these stories. There's no ex-military muscle bound hero that saves the jour with the big guns. The characters here are just regular people, scared and clueless as to what's happening, relying on each other despite their desperate situation. It always makes the story better when toi care about what happens to the survivors and that is sometimes forgotten in livres of this type. Of course there's still the requisite...

This is a short short collection par auteur Norman Partridge. It contains both fiction and non-fiction content all based around the Halloween season.

The writer does a very clever and unique thing with this collection as he recalls his childhood, growing up with the classic monsters of the time e.g Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman etc also including the old creepy comic livres populaire back then and how he and his Friends used to enjoy the Halloween season. From these golden memories he flips it to the the Halloween an when the real bogeyman came out to play; The Zodiac Killer. It's a very interesting...

Remember when toi were a kid and in the dead of night you'd hear a sound? A sound toi were convinced came from within your room? Maybe it came from underneath the floorboards, in a big old wardrobe or, even worse, from under your bed? Well if toi do remember then this collection of short stories will make those bad memories burst upon your mind with a cringe and send a shiver down your spine.
There are twelve stories here.

This a short story collection that spans two things that I enjoy lire the most; horror and bizarre.
Although the titre of this book alludes to it being all about apocalypses, it is not. While there are some tales here that are about the end of the world, many plus are very personal takes on the horrific and/or weird.
There are over twenty short stories included. Some of which are, the evolution and destruction of self aware trash puppets. A man who has bébés mysteriously appear in his apartment. A down- trodden young woman who finds out something disturbing about her father. A man endlessly...

In lire this seconde volume of Earth ending short stories toi will realize just how many ways life as we know it could end. It could make toi feel very small and totally useless or, depending on your point of view of society, it could fill toi with hope knowing that the end is always near and that maybe if the ever impending apocalypse does happen we can rise from the ruin and try not to make such a mess of the World the seconde time around. Either way read and enjoy yet another fine collection of 'what-if' tales.

Included:
'Jaundice' par Zachary O'Shea: In a world overrun with mold and mildew...

Even amongst the mounting technology and digital enhancement that dominates the world today myths prevail, whether it be something as abstract as superstition ou something as deep-rooted as curses and rituals, people still pass on twisted tales of fairies, goblins, the Underworld and the wrath of scorned Gods long forgotten but still ablaze with power. This collection of twelve short stories contain a traverser, croix section of legends and folklore.

In this collection of short horror fiction you'll find a little of everything. This book is not really hardcore horror but there is a bit of blood flying around along with deadly paranoia on board a l’espace shuttle, a dark cellar that may contain a yellow eyed monster with teeth and a uncertain afterlife for a cancer patient. The stories are all very well written and edited and I read this entire collection in one day. It was thoroughly entertaining and some of the stories give me a little shiver with some genuinely inventive and unique takes on horror.
There's bound to be something in here for any kind of horror fan, no matter your tastes. It was also nice to read some authors that I had never read before and it spurred me on to discover plus about them and their other works.
This is an ebook and relatively cheap for the quality of the story telling on show. I would recommend picking this up and if toi do I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Being a fan of extreme horror I had high hopes for this collection. I haven't read anything par John Putignano before so I was also excited to find a new horror auteur that I can follow in the future. Happily I have.

This book is a collection of short stories all based ou somehow revolving around the concepts of Hell, demons, Satan ou dark taboo's. From necrophilia to cannibalism, madness, possession, Satanic rituals and murder all feature along with added oddities like harmonious frogs, strange medical conditions and even a quick mention of Horror Hero H.P.Lovecraft. Despite the relative narrowness...

The subject of loups garous is a classic in horror. It has been covered from many angles, some good, some bad, depending on your tastes in horror. rayon, ray Garton takes the fur-ball myth in a new direction in these two livres making the thing that turns a human into a werewolf a kind of STD. Being bit par a furry wont change you. Being shagged par one will. Also gone is the old 'full moon change' business. The loups in these stories change wherever and whenever they feel like it, and Garten goes into glorious detail at how the sound of cartilage pops and Bones snap, fur sprouts and long fangs run with...

For anyone who knows the work of auteur Edward Lee, toi probably know the high quality of his écriture and also the sort of horror topics he covers. There's nothing here to disappoint his fans. For those of toi who haven't read any of Mr Lee's other work well... let's just say toi got a big shock coming to you.

Let me be honest, the short stories available in this collection are most definitely not for the weak of stomach of faint of heart. In fact out of all the short horror fiction I have read, some of the stories contained within this collection are some of the most disturbing I have ever...

This is an excellent book. The auteur manages to weave numerous characters, scenarios and themes together seamlessly. If toi like vampires, loups garous ou zombies ou just like a good 'end of the world' yarn then you'll find something here to enjoy. The story is subtly underpinned par a religious tone that while being moralistic stays clear of being too preachy as to put the reader off. Add to that moments of sparkling wit and pitch black humour toi have yourself a very entertaining and intelligent novel where the twists and turns in the plot flow as freely as the buckets of gore.A brilliant horror novel. Enjoy. Thank toi for reading.
On July 1991 Jeffrey Dahmer the notorious cannibalistic serial killer was captured par police.
On November 28, 1994 Dahmer was beaten to death par another inmate...Or was he?
What if Jeff didn't really die that day. What if it was all a elaborate hoax? What if Dahmer found a way to escape jail par faking his own death?
These 'what-if's' are the basis for this taut gripping story. Part horror. Part conspiracy theory. Part police procedural. This story is all the plus terrifying for the amazing amount of detail and believability that is imbued on every page.

Detective Helen Closs is a highly successful...

An inventive, enjoyable and surprisingly heart-warming take on the serial killer thriller.

Charlie is a quiet man. He keeps himself to himself at work, vues the world through highly practical eyes, is meticulous to a fault and incredible thrifty. He avoids any kind of personal contact with people and cares not a jot about anybody's feelings, desires, ideas ou personalities. He is also a very successful serial killer. Keeping his killings to a strict schedule, he allows himself to hunt for a new victim once every two months and always aims for victims which he considers low risk i.e junkies...

After following the Horror Society on Twitter for a while, I was very excited to read this book. The people in the society know their stuff and with this book no gut is left un-churned, no twist denied and no moral ground left intact.
Included are eleven short stories:
LOAF DIVINE par Canaan Frank: A hotel seeks out the twisted secrets that lie within the past and conscience of a man
DEAD RINGERS par David Blackthorn: College students have an eventful night sleeping amongst the graves of plague victims
A VAMPIRE WALKS INTO A BAR par Aaron rayon, ray Ballard: A bar that plays host to many unnatural beasts...

The best thing about this short story collection is it's brazenness. It is violently visceral book staining with gore and bulging with pure nastiness. In short it's a book that any real literary horror fan should relish.
The stories include:
HEIRLOOM par Michael Laimo: An inherited fusil, carabine holds terrible memories and depraved secrets for a seriously demented killer.
VIOLENCE FOR FUN AND PROFIT par Gregory L.Norris: Vengeance becomes political manifesto in this warped view of post-Bush America.
AMPUTATIONS IN THE KEY OF D par Jack Maddox: A rock étoile, star goes for a routine wart removal and ends up losing...

Being the president must be a difficult job. The last thing toi need is to be infected with lice while half of America turns into vegetables and gets eaten par their pets.
This is a horror short story collection all based around the premise of presidents and/or the White House.
There's ghosts, a zombie, a werewolf, a botched assassination attempt, re-animated dead célébrités serviced par prostitutes amongst others. The horror here is disgustingly brilliant, twisted to the extreme but always with an underlying wit and intelligence that makes every story fresh and wholly satisfying to read. Although...
