“Why, hello there beautiful!”
Smug faced propped on his hand, Alfred greeted toi with his trademark grin. toi had been walking par the couch, not expecting him to be accueil when he sprung up from nowhere. Startled, toi dropped the stack of livres toi had been carrying up to his library—well, your bibliothèque now too, toi presumed. Alfred laughed and launched to your side.
“I’ll save the day!” He exclaimed. “Make way for the hero!”
“Alfred!” toi scolded gently, fighting a smile. “You can’t startle me like that!”
“Aww, I’m sorry darlin’!” He kissed your cheek. “Just couldn’t help myself; you’re gorgeous.”
Blushing, toi playfully punched him in the shoulder and knelt to gather the books. Of course, he helped you, bending over and talking about his day. As each book slipped into your hands, toi remembered how all of this had happened; after your third anniversary a few days earlier, Alfred had insisted that toi come live with him. Though toi had been unsure, he convinced toi to come with those chiot eyes and, really, how could toi refuse?
“Why’re toi smiling?” Alfred grinned obliviously. “It really happened!”
“Oh, I know,” toi laughed at the irony, “it really happened.”
Straightening up with a stack of livres that was roughly the same size because Alfred hadn’t managed to collect too many in the midst of his story, toi turned around to start walking up the stairs. Two strong arms crept around your waist, however, pulling toi against a muscled stomach. Squeezing the livres against your chest, toi blushed and turned to look at Alfred. His lips came down upon yours in a kiss.
“Hey,” his voice softened and deepened, “would toi mind putting this stuff down and coming with me? I wanna montrer toi something.”
Breath fanning against your heated ear, toi twisted around. “E-eh?” toi stared at him, unsure as toi set the livres on the nearest table, disengaging from the American. “Okay, where are we going?” Not replying with words, Alfred took your hand and tugged toi towards the front door. Following him onto the porch, toi found a sunset awaiting toi and toi smiled; his spontaneity was always so romantic. “Wow!” toi breathed, walking towards the banister. “It’s beautiful!”
Alfred grinned. “Yeah, that’s not the only thing!”
Flattered, toi beamed as Alfred wrapped his arms around toi again, resting his chin on your shoulder. Most people couldn’t touch toi without pangs of discomfort electrifying your every nerve, but with Alfred, any and every contact was bliss. He knew how to make toi feel sûr, sans danger and secure, adored and respected. Yes, he could be a daredevil idiot, but he was an American—it wasn’t his fault.
toi laughed quietly to yourself and he nuzzled your cheek with his nose. “What’re ya thinking ‘bout?”
“Something,” toi teased. “Or maybe nothing.”
“Tell me,” he breathed, tightening his grip. “Please?”
“Maybe suivant time,” toi giggled as he bit your ear playfully.
Catching onto your game quickly, Alfred pulled away, shrugging. “All right then!” He smiled mischievously. “Guess toi don’t get your surprise!” Inquisitive as toi were, toi refused to lose this game to him and merely smiled. The American waited for an appropriate response, which in his arrogant opinion would be a portal to all your thoughts, but those weren’t really any of his business.
“You’ve spoiled me enough,” toi conceded, “I guess toi won’t get your surprise after all.”
“What?” Alfred was dumbfounded. “No! Tell me what toi were thinking!”
“Hey!” toi scowled as he begged with chiot eyes. “No!”
“They’re working!” Alfred chimed. “I’m winning!”
Huffing out a sigh, toi exclaimed, “Oh, have it your way!” Alfred cheered his victory and glomped you, glancing up expectantly. toi groaned in defeat. “I was thinking that one of your only flaws aside from your apparent nosiness is that you’re a daredevil idiot, but,” toi grinned cleverly, “it’s not your fault you’re an American.”
His dramatic expression was priceless; another win for you. “I resent that!”
toi giggled and poked his nose. “I’m kidding.”
Pulling away so he could fold his arms, Alfred cracked a grin. Sure, it was on the spot, but wasn’t that how his best plans came to fruition? Catching the scheming in his eyes, toi prepared yourself as his dynamic nature kicked in. “All right then,” he jabbed his thumb into his chest, throwing out his chest, “what would toi say to marrying this super-sexy daredevil American?”
Your jaw dropped. “You’re kidding!”
Alfred flashed toi a smile. “Am I?”
Your breath hitched. “You aren’t?”
Reddening as Alfred landed on one knee and whipped out a box from his pocket—how he managed to get that par toi was a mystery—he declared, “I l’amour toi and I swear to protect toi always! You’re my girl and I wouldn’t have it any other way, so,” his smile was dazzling as the lid flipped open and white streamers popped out, revealing a delicate diamond ring, “marry me, babe?”
cœur, coeur overwhelmed with blissful beats, your hands flew to your face as toi whispered, “Yes!”
Not even a seconde passed between your answer leaving your lips and his arms arriving to embrace you. Were toi crying? toi couldn’t quite remember, but your vision was fuzzy when he tilted your chin up and kissed toi with plus passion than toi had ever felt. Returning his fervid adoration, toi kissed him many, many times, unable to Kiss him enough.
As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, Alfred whispered, “I’m gonna be your hero forever!”
toi smiled, lips locking again—“You’d better be.”
