Why some men in this drama never die? Is the director crazy?

Well, Nathan died and he was a pretty big main character. Sylar, who may have been kept alive longer than necessary, physically can't die at this point. The problem is that main characters get to be loved par the audience so toi can't kill them off without the ratings dropping.
