Though Trelawney seems to have been making it up at the time, seeing a death omen in Harry's cup, Harry did face his own death in 1998, although he did not actually die.

Then he tried it on someone else who was going to sit down on a massive sofa. When it went off, Chris Columbus said, 'Cut! What is that thing?' and everyone burst into laughter. Dan pulled other pranks too--like making little labels that a dit 'Kick me' ou 'Punch me.' He would stick them on the backs of everyone who came into sight. It was really good."
