As toi can tell from my username, I am a huge Harry Potter fan. However, I wasn’t always. I used to be a Twihard (a twilight obsessed fan-girl). In fact I was one during the early stages of puberty, which is the age where most Twitards fall into the ‘romantic’ trap.

Here’s my story about how I went from ‘Twihard’ to ‘Indifferent’ to ‘Potterhead’:

I first read Twilight as a recommendation from a fellow member of the Teen Advisory Board of my library. I finished that book quickly and moved onto the next. The bibliothèque didn’t have Eclipse so I read it ‘Twilight, New Moon, Breaking Dawn, Eclipse.’ I went to the movies, had all the livres and even had a blanket and veste with Twilight plastered on it.

It didn’t really occur to me that maybe something was wrong with the series until I saw New Moon in theaters. I found myself leaving to go to the bathroom when Bella talked to the Cullens about being changed because I felt sick to my stomach. Even though I had read the livres it didn’t occur to me in my fan-girl haze how much Bella was willing to give up for the boy she shouldn’t even be with until I saw it on screen. At that time I was around thirteen and was very influenced par media, so I thought it was just a aléatoire feeling and eventually I went back to the movie.

A while after that I re-read a series I hadn’t since early sixth grade (before my Twilight Phase), that is Percy Jackson and the Olympians. While I read it I felt myself relating plus to Annabeth and her feelings towards Percy than I ever did for Bella and Edward. Again, I didn’t really tell people about my new found l’amour for Percy Jackson because everyone was into Twilight at my school and I was the first one in my grade to start lire it (Small School). I was worried about how people would see me so I acted like I still cared about Twilight, when really I didn’t care.

Then Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 came out and for the first time people I heard normally talk about Twilight seemed to forget it existed. Now I had watched the Harry Potter films when I was younger, my Friends and I would even run around in the backyard jouer la comédie like we were Hermione and Ginny while the deatheater (a black lab) chased after us, but I never read the books. But as the rendez-vous amoureux, date for the last movie approached two of my best Friends encouraged me to read the books, and I was hooked.

I’ve been a Potterhead ever since.

Some Reasons I prefer Harry Potter to Twilight:

J.K. Rowling is original. – Smeyer just retold a romance filled with Mary-Sues.
J.K. Rowling put a little of herself into her characters. – Smeyer IS Bella cygne (See Picture above).
J.K. Rowling made Sirus Black a shape shifter first. – Smeyer just changed the first name, added abs, ect.
J.K. Rowling made me think. – Smeyer wants a man to think for me.
J.K. Rowling made us feel like we could be the DA. – Smeyer shows toi need to be pretty to be a Cullen.
J.K. Rowling gave me magic. – Smeyer gave me a guide to tell if someone is stalking you.
J.K. Rowling created Quidditch. – Smeyer ruined baseball.

I’ve read fanfics better than Twilight.

Yours Always (Harry Potter fans understand the reference),

Harry woke up the suivant morning with a feeling as though there was a heavy block in his stomach. He got ready and dressed and went downstairs. Ginny was already at the table, waiting for him. She smiled nervously at him, and he a dit to her ‘Don’t worry; compared to what we’ve been through, this is practice.’
Ginny laughed, and Harry felt pleased. They got their children ready, and dropped them off at the wizard jour care, as every adult wizard would be in the battle.
Harry and Ginny apparated with Ron and Hermione to the Cullen backyard, where the battle would commence. When they got...

'Good Morning Voldemort' - The HP Version on 'Good Morning Baltimore', from the Musical, Hairspray.

Oh, oh, oh
Woke up today
Feeling the way i always do
Oh, oh, oh
Hungry for Magic
That i can't eat
Then i hear that beat
That rhythm of Voldie
Starts calling me down
It's like a message from
High above
Oh, oh, oh
Pulling me out
To the smiles and the
Streets that i love

Good morning Voldemort!
Every day's like an evil encore
Every night is a fantasy
Every sound's like a death to me!

Good morning Voldemort!
And some jour when i take to the floor
The world's gonna wake up and see
Voldemort and me!

Oh, oh, oh
Look at my wand...

So I surfing the web when I ran into one of the pages from this site. It was a question asking which would toi rather be, a vampire ou a wizard? I immediately answered wizard and I added 3 quick reasons why. That was several months il y a and now I wondered if my answer was reasonable enough. I also read other people's reason and I admit some of them sounded very childish and naive.

Now I will start par defining the two par their origins. vampires and wizards, because that was the question. Not Twilight vampires ou HP Wizards, but since that vote was under those topics I'm guessing I will talk...

Luna looked back and shouted, “EXPELLIARMUS!”
The Death Eater’s wand flew out of his hand.
“Nice shot!” Neville said, looking at her impressed. Luna beamed brightly, as the two continued to run. They both slowed as they neared a room filled with smoke. Neville ran in first and Luna followed close behind. They heard shouts coming from every direction.
“CRUCIO!” There was a scream of agony.
“STUPEFY!”
“AVADA KEDAVRA!”
The last spell seemed closer and both ducked at the same time. They heard a thud as a body hit the floor. Luna ran over there, despite the spells flying everywhere....

People are passionate about defending their livres that they love. I know that and I’ve done it. What’s really disturbing is when the users of fanpop use this site to bring people down ou just to openly hate.

Harry Potter and Twilight are going to be compared. No other two livres have the same rabid following and they both have strong roots in the supernatural. I welcome débats and exchanging of opinions, when it’s friendly. Some of the commentaires I’ve seen on these forums could not be called friendly debate. It just makes me sick when I know that there are people out there that are willing...

Taking arms against Harry Potter, at this moment, is to emulate Hamlet taking arms against a sea of troubles. par opposing the sea, toi won't end it. The Harry Potter epiphenomenon will go on, doubtless for some time, as J. R. R. Tolkien did, and then wane.

The official newspaper of our dominant counter-culture, The New York Times, has been startled par the Potter livres into establishing a new policy for its not very literate book review. Rather than crowd out the Grishams, Clancys, Crichtons, Kings, and other vastly populaire prose fictions on its fiction bestseller list, the Potter volumes will...
