(This is set, 1 an and 4 months after Emma moved to the zoo. It's May 10th 2008 Emma is still with Private, but Kowalski is one of her best friends. The other is Marlene.)
Emma crawled out of bed, checking the clock as she did. She was up earlier today, it was 10:45am. Maybe it was becuase she had to escape from her nightmares. A few months ago, Emma had battled Blowhole for the first time, and although the team easily beat him, she kept having recurring nightmares, about him capturing her, and hurting her team. For some reason, in her dream she was utterly helpless, she had to watch the get tortured. Emma shuddered, and sat down suivant to Private.
"Hey Emma, are toi ok?" Private asked looking at her worriedly, as he held her flipper. Emma nodded, and Private gave her a skeptical look. "You don't seem ok." He remarked. "What's wrong?" Emma sighed and looked at him.
"I keep having this nightmare." She began, as she explained what happened in it. The others listened intently. When she finished, a few tears were in her eyes.
"Hey don't worry, Emma none of it is real." Private a dit reassuringly, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"I know, but it's making me afraid to go asleep." Emma replied, wiping her cheek.
"Emma, when this is happening in your dream, say to yourself that it's not real, then it seems less scary." Private advised.
"Ok, I'll try that." Emma agreed, trying to smile.
"Hey Em, Lilo and Stitch is on." Kowalski said, trying to change the subject, and nodding towards the Tv.
"Ooh, cool!" Emma exclaimed, looking at the Tv. Meanwhile, her mind was making lunch, and she ate it quickly. Skipper smiled at her. "What's up Skips?" Emma asked.
"Nothing, I still find it amazing that toi can do these things." Skipper answered, looking proud.
"Yup." Rico added, grinning at his sister. Emma cheered up fully, par this time, and she watched the Tv, with not a care in the world.
Meanwhile, at Blowhole's new secret lair.
"I need to find a way to get rid of those pesky peng- u-ins once and for all." Dr Blowhole decided, looking at his new supercomputer.
"Well how do toi plan to do that Doc?" Red 1, Blowhole's lead lobster, asked. Blowhole thought hard.
"I need to get rid of their new team member, her powers seem impossible to defeat. With her out of the picture the peng-u-ins will be so much weaker, and I will be free to rule the world!" He answered, a devious smile on his face.
"If her powers are impossible to defeat how are toi going to get rid of her?" Red 1 asked, skeptically.
"DON'T question MY PLAN!" Blowhole screeched angrily. "NOW GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!" He added, a crazy look in his one normal eye. Red 1 scuttled out, full of fear. Blowhole looked thoughtful. "That actually is a good point." He a dit aloud to himself. "I need to find her weakness, is there something out there that can only effect telepaths, and telekinetics? Something that her precious powers don't work on? Are there any other telepaths, and telekinetics out there?" He wondered. His eye fell on his super computer, and he grinned evilly. "Lets do a bit of research." He decided, turning it on.
Back at The Zoo
The penguins had just finished entertaining the guests and the clock read 3pm.
"Hey, I'm gonna go and visit Marlene." Emma told the team, as she jumped out of the habitat.
"Ok, but be back par 7pm." Skipper ordered.
"Ok." Emma agreed. She gave Private a hug, and made her way over to the loutre habitat. Kowalski watched her longingly. He sighed and went back into the HQ, picking up his clipboard. His stomach feeling giddy, and queasy. He mentally slapped himself, and tried to cheer up.
You should be happy, she's your best friend. One part of him said. But I want her to be plus than a friend. Another bit of him argued back. You should be grateful for what toi have. The first bit of him reminded him sternly. Kowalski had to agree, their friendship was special, and she admitted that she trusted him with her life. And they told eachother almost everything. Kowalski cheered up a little at these facts and started drawing
Meanwhile, as Emma was walking to Marlene's, a nasty chill went down her spine. She stopped dead. Her gut was telling her that something was wrong. She closed her eyes and focused on the area around her. There was no unfriendly brain signatures, and no booby traps. She scanned everyone's heads in the surrounding habitats. None of them had been brainwashed. But she felt like, something bad was coming, it may not be here yet, but her gut was telling her that she wasn't safe.
