Doug: There's nothing for me here.
Carol: I'm here.
Doug: I mean work. I can't stay here.
Carol: Not even for me?
Doug: Come with me.
Carol: I want toi to stay here.
Doug: I can't.
Carol: I don't understand that.
Doug: I have to go, Carol. I can't stay here.
Carol: (tearful) Doug -
(He turns to face her)
- I don't want to wake up alone tomorrow!
(He strides back to her, kisses her, whispers - "I l’amour you" and walks off, leaving her crying in the corridor)
