Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse is a montrer about human trafficking and sexual slavery. Its themes are dressed in a science-fiction setting and the Dollhouse itself is beautified with its exclusive spa décor, but the show’s themes are as prominent as they are in the movie Taken. Dollhouse, however, contains the intriguing element of consensual slavery, which is what the Dollhouse’s management assures people is their business. In spite of this dubious claim, the Dollhouse has in practice obtained their Actives through coercion and it remains an enterprise of evil.

“There’s only one reason someone...

(The following is an adaptation of a video response made, spanning link and link)

I like the YouTube montrer link, but I highly disagree with the link’s assertion that Dollhouse is misogynistic. I’d like to take this moment to address some of its points.

Anita Sarkeesian brings up the issue of how constructing a personality to have sex with someone would be rape because the imprint wouldn’t be able to give proper consent. This is actually explored a bit in the seconde season, but she’s right because it’s not in the first season when the video was made. I would say that Dollhouse would have...

Sometimes it takes a little crazy to truly spell Nuts and boy oh boy was Alpha missed here. Who knew out of all the tasks Victor could perform, he could also play crazy. Out of all the psycho Luney, Echo was the least believable, probably because Echo has taken on a personality of her own, even in her imprinted state she still goes back to Echo format.

At least we know for sure that Dr. Saunders is not forgotten and that DeWitt is probably making it her goal to get her back, but it isn't really her first priority.

Among the silly in 'Belle Chose' Victor's attempt to dance like a girl came off...

There are very few chances where toi get to take a child away from a loving mother's arms, without leaving with a few scratches and scars along the way.

Dollhouse used the value of motherhood and parenthood on a different level that actually had me marveled at the sight of Echo willing and able to breastfeed a child she didn't even carry herself. What I found most fascinating was the fact that she truly believed she was a mother at heart.

The writers outdid themselves this time with a moving theme in 'Instinct'. Eliza Dushku was able to capture the true emotions of what it would feel like to...

Promotional image of Echo as her dominatrix imprint
Dollhouse has an odd relationship with elements of S&M (sadism and masochism), ou plus broadly BDSM (bondage and discipline, domination and submission, sadism and masochism; kinky stuff). The general premise of the montrer seems to involve elements of such nature, specifically a structure characteristic of the dominant/submissive model. The montrer has included scenes of bondage as well as a dominatrix character that briefly goes over the philosophies of BDSM about trust. I have some familiarity with the subject, and while I’m glad for the inclusion of a sadomasochistic character, which makes...
