This isn't a review of Steven Moffat's writing, this is just an opinion/conclusion/observation I've come to. toi can agree ou disagree with me on this and I'd l’amour to hear both sides. I believe Steven Moffat is trying to completely déplacer away from Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who series. He changed the look of the TARDIS and the sonic screwdriver. If toi think about it, only 2 enemies from the précédant seasons were mentioned again in Season 5, the Daleks and the weeping angels. The Daleks are a classic Doctor Who enemy, while the weeping anges were something Steven Moffat created himself. He wrote Blink. Also none of the précédant adventures ou companions have been mentioned. While in RTD's seasons, The Doctor pined away for Rose, long after she was gone, in Season 5, Rose wasn't even mentioned. Infact the only person who showed up in Season 5 that was from a précédant season, was River Song who showed up in that Silence in the bibliothèque episode in Season 4. But that episode too was written par Steven Moffat. Point is, Steven Moffat is trying to get away from the "image" created par Russel T. Davies.
