Round 2 Elimiination: Merida
Please, if you're argue please argue maturely. I think it's pretty clear that everyone here has a different opinion, and please respect it. You may disagree, but please disagree politely, these polls are for fun, and don't think I didn't notice that last round. I'm sure we are all mature enough to handle this.
I mean Elsa has her selfless moments but she also does a lot of selfish things. For one, Elsa created a huge storm and blamed ANNA for it. I agree, Anna did have fault in it, but Elsa could have at least told her. I mean she had. 3 years after her parents death to tell her and she stood right next to her at the coronation. I mean Anna did have some fault in it but she at least took responsibility. Plus, I get she shut herself away for other's sakes, but why didn't she practice controlling her power? I'm sorry but Elsa gets my vote!
I get that Anna has been shut out her whole life and she's desperate for love and answers and validation, it's understandable and human but it's still really selfish - it's Anna's insisting on having those desires met no matter what that pushes Elsa into a breakdown and sets off the eternal winter. Part of why Anna went after her sister was to stop the winter, yeah, But a huge part of it was also to restore her relationship with her sister because she was feeling lonely and hurt. Her engagement to Hans was pretty selfish too, and she pushes it on Elsa without really caring about what the consequences are. (Personally though I like that she's flawed like this - I have so much respect for how Disney makes the heroines the cause of their problems way more than they used to.)
I still don't see how Elsa is more selfish - nearly everything Elsa does is rooted in her desire to protect her sister and the people of Arendelle, even when it is severely damaging to her. (Like not even letting her own mother and father hug her when she's little because she's afraid she's going to freeze them. And her whole childhood was made up of moments like that. If she were truly selfish she wouldn't have put up with the isolation order for so long.) I hope people are taking core desires and the character's concern for others into account when coming up with these answers.
I wouldn't mind seeing Tiana or Jas or Poca leave either tbh. Poca especially, as her insistence on being with John Smith gets Kocoum killed.
My next choice would be Jasmine, but really... she's ignorant about nearly everything, so it makes a bit of sense she wouldn't know the consequences of her actions.
Btw, I'm just ignoring Anna and Elsa for now, because it's been some time since I last saw Frozen.
EDIT: When I voted for Pocahontas, I kind of forgot her sacrifice at the end, when she choses to stay in Virginia with her people rather than sail to America with John Smith.
I think Pocahontas is free spirited and definitely makes a selfish choice to see the settlers but she also stopped a war between the 2 as well.
I think Elsa had good intentions but bad advice so while her actions came off selfish, her intent was not as selfish.
I think Anna was more confused than selfish and was constantly thinking of others first, especially when it came to Kristoff, Olaf, Elsa, etc.
I never understand why some peoples said Elsa is selfish. She isn't selfish. Maybe in some moments she seems to be kinda selfish, but at least she still have selfless acts than Jasmine. Agreed a lot with Audreygrace.
I don't think Elsa is selfish as much as Jasmine and Tiana. Elsa was constantly worried about others' safety and which is why she left. Even though she did begin to enjoy her solitary moments, the intent to leave was never on selfish grounds, neither was rejecting anna over and over and nor not returning to kingdom. She just didnt know how to fix her problem and the only solution she could think was to stay away, that was also for others not for herself. She was just using defensive methods to save others.
The only time i could think of Elsa to be selfish was to build herself an ice castle.
As for Elsa, she was pretty selfish during the movie but that was after decades of bottling her feelings and trying to protect her kingdom. She had a very selfish moment, but I think the root of her is selfless.
