It might be too divisive, and lead to some weird arguments. I mean, giving DPs political views is interesting, but that would be "really stretching" the intent of what is present in each of the movies... And none of the movies have a "specific" political agenda.

In what way? Are we talking about actual political views or just moral/personal views? It would be more or less interesting to do a poll based on actual politics, but I definitely wouldn't want to see polls about whether the DPs would be Pro-Choice/Pro-Death Penalty/Pro-Guns/etc. That's just asking for trouble, as far as I'm concerned, and I would hate to see serious moral stances applied to the DPs in any way, shape, or form.

Yeah I agree with wavesurf. Keep the headings super vague. Personally I think the titles "liberal" and "conservative" might be good ones to use.

What's wrong with using "Republican" and "Democrat"? I mean, I don't think I'll be "vague" if I should use those. Even though I have a suspicion that'll lead to off the record arguments...

I think it would be a super interesting idea, but with how volatile the club has been recently, it might just create unnecessary conflict.

I'm also opposed with democrat or republican being the political choices, because I feel that is incredibly US centric. I also personally feel they would all be democrat lol.

It's interesting, but it will create a lot of conflict, and especially now it's not the right time. xD And yeah, it is also too US centric, as a person from Europe, I don't even know much about democrats and republicans, only that the republicans are too conservative.

I've changed my mind and my answer as you can see. I agree with 324anna. I didn't realise you were planning to do it from a US point of view. I also don't know much about the Republicans or Democrats. I only know my own country's political parties. I'm also European.

Also might be hard to figure out how someone who lived several hundred years ago might feel about things going on here and now. Like you'll probably end up with a list full of super conservative DPs because many of them come from societies and time periods with very traditional values compared to ours.

Besides, I'm only doing who'll vote Republican, Democrat, or even Independent if I SHOULD create a poll. And, to UnholyNoise-you DO have a point. I didn't think about that. (If y'all don't know what Independent in politics mean, I suggest you inbox me because I MIGHT create bad blood if I explain right here.)

^well, you're disagreeing right now, you know... And I didn't say it was uninteresting, I said people won't agree. even right now people are thinking of totally different political parties.

The point is everyone here has very different political beliefs even if most are left leaning. In every political poll it usually doesn't stay a quiet discussion long. like UN said it'll probably end up in arguments like politics usually do.

I would say that the problem with political views is that "conservative" and "liberal" mean different things to different cultures.

That being said, I believe in living by Stephen Hawking's words that "For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen. Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn't have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking."

It's impossible to please everyone and it's a hard life for someone who tries. I think the key is just finding the right balance. If you could do that then I think it would absolutely be interesting.
