ALW l’amour Never Dies Réponses

CONTAINS SPOILERS BUT NOT ENDING: Meg and Madame Giry are on Coney Island after helping the Phantom to escape Paris and set up his show, Phantasma, which includes Meg as a headlining act chant Vaudeville songs. The Phantom doesn't really care about helping her, though, as he only mourns after Christine, a fact which really annoys Madame Giry and depresses Meg, who is tired of always coming in seconde to her former best friend. The Phantom sends a note to Christine, offering her a large sum of money to come sing for his montrer (she does not know who he is, as he operates under the name "Mr. Y"). Christine accepts, and arrives with Raoul and their son, Gustave. We learn that she accepted to help pay off their enormous debts owed due to Raoul's gambling problem. It is quickly obvious that Raoul has a drinking problem and that his marriage with Christine is not a happy one. When Christine is alone, practicing for her first concert in years, the Phantom comes to her, which really frightens her. She yells at him for invading her life after all of these years. We then discover that Christine came to the Phantom the night before she got married and they had quite the night together. Before the night was over, however, the Phantom left Christine, even though she loved him, because he was ashamed of himself. The Phantom meets Gustave, and initially tries to frighten him as he is the "little viscount". He soon realized that Gustave is very musical, and seems to share a similar world view.... The Phantom confronts Christine, who admits that Gustave is actually his son, not Raoul's. The Phantom vows to somehow give all he can to his son, even if he has to hide himself away to do it. Giry overhears, and is furious at being forgotten after everything she has done. Later, the Phantom goads Raoul into making a bet. If he can convince Christine to leave and not sing, all of his debts will be taken care of. If, however, she stays and sings, Raoul has to leave alone and the Phantom gets Christine. Both appeal to her right before the concert is due to start, leaving her very conflicted.

Hope this helps! Despite how it sounds, it actually is a very good show! It's just a bit hard to get past the idea of Raoul being a jerk, the Phantom being sensitive instead of killing people every five seconds, and the fact that Christine and the Phantom have a son. If toi get the cd, it includes everything (dialogue and all), and the deluxe cd comes with the script!

I have never been "Pro-Love Never Dies" but I must admit this storyline sounds much, much better than the book it is based on. I really don't think I will see the musical, but thanks alot for posting this. It is a comfort to know it isn't as bad as I had feared! MDR

[SPOILER FOR OTHERS WHO MIGHT NOT WANT TO SEE] Yes, that is correct. She's upset, and the Phantom almost calms her down, then says, "Beauty often goes unseen, we can't all be like Christine." Which is not the best thing to say when Meg is already sick of being second-best to her. So she points the gun angrily as she's gesturing and it accidentally goes off and kills her. SO SAD. Christine tells Gustave that the Phantom is his father before she dies, then Gustave takes off the Phantom's mask and hugs him, so it's kind of sweet. Still, I saw the first Phantom the night after seeing this show, and I just couldn't get over Meg when she and Christine are chant together.
