I dont think shes the most beautiful Princess they could have designed, but it really doesn't bother me. The whole point is that she's beautiful both inside and out (she's not exactly ugly) so yeah.

She's not as pretty as possible, but I think she's pretty enough to fit the movie. She's meant to be a natural beauty, someone who doesn't think of her looks, which is why I think they didn't make her have the looks of someone like Aurora. That kind of beauty seems high maintenence, which I don't think fit Belle. Also, I think part of how she got her hype in the town's eyes is exactly because she's a natural beauty. I'd always consider someone who looked beautiful with no/minimal styling or make-up more pretty and visually interesting than somene who took a lot of styling to be beautiful, and I think that's what we're meant to see with her compared to the bimbettes (who as far as I can remember are the only competition in the looks department she has in her town). She's more beautiful to the town because that's what she looks like when she rolls out of bed, throws her hair into a clumsy pony tail and runs out with her head in a book. which would be more impessive than the bimbette's beauty, which seems hard earned, if you know what I mean. That and uniqueness adds to beauty, and she has that in her town. She's a beauty in a town full of people who are ugly, averge or generically pretty, so even though compared to other Disney heroines se can be considered plain, I think in the context of her story her rep as a beauty makes sense, and her style of beauty fits her character :)

She's not the most beautiful they could've designed, but I still think she's pretty. I just wish the animators had designed a more consistent beauty. She is absolutely STUNNING in some shots, and in some she's just . . . plain.

Wow I totally agree with everything Mermaid-Tail just said. I also agree with the above 2 comments about her inconsistency.

I think Belle is gorgeous her and Ariel. As the movie says anyway Beauty is found within. But Her brown hair and eyes and when she is wearing the ball gown. She is stunning. Plus when she has her hair down she looks ever prettier. - this is not meant to be a vain comment, but she is the one I resemble the most- seriously I have brown hair, brown eyes, olive-fair skin. I only wish I was a skinny as her.

Maybe a better hairstyle would've been nice for me. XP Love the hazel eyes. Keep that. I also wish they were consistent with the way they drew her.

I never noticed Belle's looks but this sketch made me think she was beautiful. Even if some find it plain, I love it. She looks so cute, yet mature. In this picture, I don't mind her hair at all.

Especially for someone who is meant to be a French beauty. It's not very unique to be a brunette in France. She'd have been more unique and beautiful if she was blonde and all the other women in town were brunette. Cinderella's image would have been perfect, for example. Which is ironic, because she's French too. Why do all the characters in films set in France end up with British accents? Am I the only person who notices that?
ANYWAY, I also think her facial features are very plain. If they'd been more extreme, then she'd have been more beautiful. There is one screenshot in the whole film where she has the extreme exotic look I wish they'd aimed for. Her jaw looked more square and she had harsher cheekbones but it was in a feminine way. That would have suited her much better.
