I like the books, but the writing bothers me in places. I also think it's overrated. It's pretty much a guilty pleasure for me now. *shrug*

The writing's okay, it's fine but not good enough to get all the hype it does get, Bella is an AWFUL character, the vampires are L-A-M-E, and it is WAY overrated!

My main issue with it is that Bella's just so flat, and you see every other girl saying "I want to be like Bella!". It's really depressing to me. That and the sparkling.

Actually I have nothing against these vampires besides that they freaking sparkle, but it's hugely overrated and crazy, unintelligent fangirls are driving me nuts!

All of the above really. Its not well written seeing as the characters all change over the books. The head character is a horrible example for girls. It promotes teen sex,pregnancy, and marriage. The fans who act like everyone in the world must love Twilight are annoying. And Yeah the vampires aren't real vampires in any way...

Everything about it is just wrong, but this one's the worst. It's pretty much telling girls if a guys hot he can treat you any way he wants and your life should revolve around him.

A girl who tries to drown herself just because of a hallcination, has no other goals in life besides her boyfriend, and is flat is NOT a good role model!

I'm sorry but I can't decide - there are WAY Too many WAY huge issues I have with it and none of them in the end ranks more big than another, with few exceptions of course.

I think I might say my biggest issue is the Bella being a poor ole model for young women but the raving lunatic fanbase doesn't really become any less huge issue - in fact I think it in the end is even bigger. So what if the lead character is a poor role modell - that can potentially be corrected in time but if someone gets seriously injured or even killed or murdered over this gofddamn book, that can not be fixed. No one can make that better.

I think my list would be:

I like it so maybe I shouldn't have answered lol but this is the thing I dislike the most... I do also think it is very overrated.

She's such a cry baby that always gets herself into a situation she can never get out of unless someone is there to help her. All women are seen as helpless now with this character out and about now and for girls saying they want to be just like her, that's just fantastic. Oh yeah, please let me be a defensless little girl that needs an old,stalker boyfriend to help me out of trouble that I got myself into. Totally anoying.

there is so many bad things about this book i've said them millions of times but maybe one of the biggest issues i had was the dililoge it was completly unrealistic no teenager talks like that it is extremly cheasy as well
another big problem i had was that supposebly the male vampires have little swimmers one thing to say about that bull shit

I really like Twilight but i know it's badly written and very overrated. However i don't really have any problem with Bella - was she written to be a role model? No, i don't think so, she's just a character and while she's really not that interesting and i never follow her thought process despite the fact it's on the page i actually don't think she's a "weak" or "helpless" person.

Ok so what exactly is the message of Twilight? That you should fall in love with a perfect guy with absolutely no flaws and then get married at the age of 18 thus destroying your future and have a baby? Ok so seriously SM is telling us to quit school and get married and have babies. Does she have any idea how huge a responsibility babies are? And if you are so young you don't even have a job in order to raise them. And I know the Cullens are rich but the girls that are reading the books aren't! It's really sad watching them getting married and having children from a so young age just because they read that stupid book.
And also it is anti feminist. Where did all the things women have been fighting fo for so many years go?You remember that woman that was the first to fight for women's rights? I think her name was Emeline Pankhorst and she would be disgusted by seeing Bella being stalked and controlled like that and actually liking it! So what is the message here? That we should all obey to the men we are married to or just our boyfriends and not be independent? Does SM even know what independence is?

Pretty much everything, but especially this. I will admit I read each of the four Twilight books in less than 4 days. But that's exactly it. These are poorly written and just because a book is ridiculous and addicting does not make it literature. So I suppose I would like Twilight fans to call a spade a spade.
Secondly, Bella and Edward are TERRIBLE models for young people. Bella submits to his domination of her and she is whiny and has no self-esteem. And girls are pining for a guy who's stuck in the dark ages and doesn't let his girlfriend make her own decisions. Jacob is the only non insane character in the whole series. At least he sees Bella as a human and not an object. This is not a romantic book, it's completely anti-feminist. Plus the fans make it a huge turn off.

And ps (sorry, I know I already wrote a lot) I already met the love of my life a year ago and I'm only 23. We've talked about marriage, but we are smart enough to know we need more time before we can be ready for something that serious. He'd never pressure me to marry him or stalk me like CRAZY Edward. The problem is masses of ignorant girls reading these books can't separate fantasy from reality. Bella + Edward does not equal <3.

I totally disagree with the message of the books, but I also believe in freedom of speech. The fans are just annoying though.

It was just too much for me. The whole fanatic craziness of it made it very unattractive.

I hate everything about it, but this is it's biggest flaw.

It's just horrible in general. The sexism, butchering of classic mythological creatures, shallow characters, cliched plots and bad writing, it all contributes to why I don't like it.

I mean, seriously, she could be with someone like Jacob who really cares about her being happy but she chooses to fix the "poor tortured" Edward *sigh* I completely understand the appeal of this for young girls (as a teen I think I would have loved the dark brooding hero and the thought of freeing him from his personal hell as well) but as a grown woman I cringed from the beginning at the unhealthy dynamic the Edward-Bella relationship took from the start (he is so goddamn controlling and she always accepts everything he says or does because she believes he only does what's best for her). I mean, later on he tries to tell her who to see and who to stay away from even though he never listens to her... ... can you say abusive?????
I mean, I love for young girls to read about love that conquers all but I really hope that my daughters would choose to set boundaries to their boyfriend rather than think that it's real love when you submit to his every whim....

Bella is such a bad role model, she treats her friends badly, she is really un-grateful about all the stuff she has, & she throws it away for blind lust. Also the literature is terrible, also the book goes on & on about how hard Edwards sparkly pale vampire skin is, & what Bella is cooking Charlie for lunch etc etc & all the "facts" in the book are wrong. The plot is the same for every single book, Bella has no personality, just about her being stubborn & clumsy, but who isn't stubborn & clumsy? Bella is so dependent on her 109 year old boyfriend vampire. & Stephanie Meyer uses every word which means the same thing to describe something, over & over again to make her seem intelligent. & then the obsessive Twilight fans are just so creepy & stalkerish, they act as if there going to marry Edward. & Stephanie Meyer ruined the concept of Vampire. Also I hate it when people compare Twilight to Romeo & Juliet, it makes me sick, I wouldn't even consider Twilight as a book compared to the masterpiece by William Shakespeare. There are more countless reasons why I hate Twilight, but I won't write them down because their meaningless & hurtful(but painfully true).

The writting. The poor characters. In my opinion its small things like the dumb blond jokes to Rosalie, Jacob's sense of humor, and Alice of course that are keeping it alive.
I can't believe how she is ruining the mythological creature which is a vampire! They are so interesting, but now they make me want to make a wish on them instead of trembling in fear.
I'm also frustrated about the writting and the plot holes.

Pointless Movie and series

Un vampiric vampires? Well, sure, the vampires aren't exactly traditional vampires, but who says traditional are what you have to have, hmm? Why can't someone bend the rules to make them different? What if you don't want to be the same as everyone else?

^ There's nothing wrong with a new version of a myth, but there's also nothing wrong with disliking that new version, and the direction in which it took the public perception and media presentation of the myth in general.

Disliking the twilight version of vampires or loving the twilight version of vampires are equally valid responses to a very different take on an old idea in my opinion :)

I dislike everything about it, but my biggest issue is the vampires. I know vampires are fictional. It's just that she changed EVERYTHING about them. It really annoys me because I love vampires. Aren't they supposed to be scary? Oh right. The sparkly, stalkerish, abusive boyfriend IS scary.

It's just more of a boredom factor, really. Edward is perfect, and really, perfection is very boring. The whole reason I started to lose interest in the series was because it was getting boring. I admit, I still pick up the books from time to time, and I'm not ashamed of it. But the things is, I can only read a chapter or two in one sitting because nothing is really happening in the books and I get restless.

Also, the extremely obsessed fangirls are getting a little irritating, too. It's a relief that there are some Twilight fans who can actually type well.

EDIT: Most of the male characters in the book series bother me, as well. Most of them are either jerks, stupid, annoying, or boring. The only character I liked was Seth. The whole "obsession" girls have with the Twilight guys is overrated. :/ Well, that's what I think, anyway.

I think it is terribly written. I don't know why it is always compared to HP, because HP maybe is not classic, but it is WAY better than Twilight. Twilight suffers from the lack of plot and the lack of good writing.

I never cared about masseges given in the books, because I read books not for that, I read them when I want to explore an author's world, to know new characters, bad, good, smart, silly. Doesn't matter how characters behave, if it well-writen it is always interesting to read. But Twilight totally fails in it.

Bella is probably the worst and most unsympathetic protagonist I've ever read. She doesn't want anything from her life. She doesn't have dreams, she doesn't want to go to college or anything else on that matter, expect than being with Edward. She ignores and dismishes everybody who's being nice to her (literally everyone in Forks), even though they're falling all over her. and worse, when they (fairly) blame her in New Moon S. Meyer presents them as mean bitches. She whines all the time, is not happy with anything, no matter what others do to please her. Apart from that, she listens to everything Edward says and is not at all upset when he does creepy (and illegal) things like stalking her during she is sleeping or injurying her during sex. I could go on and on about her, she's such a horrible role model for young women.

Actually I don't hate Twilight when the book first comes, I think it's good, but since they making the movie with Rob Pattinson, I start to hate it now.

Bella whines when Edward leaves her for her own good, goes numb for months, ignores her parents and friends at school who were worried as hell about her, and then decided to throw herself off of a cliff just to hear Edward's voice scolding her.

Harry is in AGONY because anyone he has every loved, cared for, or became close to was either murdered or killed by You-Know-Who, or Death Eaters.

When Edward left her, Bella completely went to Jacob for help, and when Edward came back she still couldn't "stay away" from Jacob, making a huge fight arise between Jacob and Edward.

Hermione-

When Ron accused Hermione of having romantic feelings towards Harry, and then abandoned them. Hermione was upset about it at first, but got over it to help her friend find the keys to destroy the darkest wizard of all time.

Bella-

Bella is whiny, selfish, and completely oh-so attractive, and completely spineless without her Vampire Boyfriend Edward to help her go through things.

Hermione-

Hermione wasn't described as "attractive" or "beautiful" at the beginning of the series. She was actually said to have big teeth, bushy hair, and a bossy voice. Later on in the series, though, she developed to become more mature, fixing her teeth, becoming less bossy, and being described to have some attractive features. Hermione is also intelligent, well-reserved, loyal, and she can be stubborn, and she'll do anything to help and protect her friends.

Twilight fans get pretty nasty. I heard on the news that a Twilight fan ran over a girl with her SUV (and killed her) only because she said that the Jonas Brothers are hotter than Robert Pattinson. There was also a fan who stated that she woke up every morning at 3 AM waiting for Edward Cullen to come for her. Another (this is gross if you don't like blood stop here) kept her tampons in the freezer and ate them. When she believed that she turned into a vampire she put them in her boyfriend's tea. There was a group of them that put a bunch of 'I LOVE YOU' posters and notes all over Robert Pattinson's car. Yeah, Twilight fans scare me :(

Firstly its way too overrated i mean i read the first book because everyone had made such a hue and cry about it. I was rather disappointed as I found it rather mediocre. The movies in themselves were complete and utter rubbish and the fans don't even get me started. I didn't agree with the way vampires were portrayed in it and i felt like slapping Bella. I mean which vampire sparkles in the sun? they burn in the sun not sparkle! and Bella is a moping wishy washy character. Hermione in Harry Potter and Katniss in The Hunger Games series are strong women and yes they have their ups and downs but none of them want to commit suicide when their boyfriend leaves them! The only good character in the entire twilight series is Alice Cullen and oh not to mention the guy who nearly killed Bella. In my opinion Twilight doesn't deserve to be placed in competition with the likes of Harry Potter and the Hunger Games series

There is about 1190 reasons to hate Twilight don't wanna list them all. But only like... 2 understandable reasons why Harry Potter isn't good to some people.
