Although I don't think it was the loss of family respect and love that drove her mad. It was paranoia. After Mai and Ty Lee turned on her she started to suspect everyone would turn on her. When her father made her Fire Lord she had more to lose and was therefore even more suspicious of losing her power. She had no one she felt she could trust. Azula was all about control and the realization that she couldn't control Mai and Ty Lee broke her. The writers really could have led up to it a bit more. It was rather abrupt to have her go mad so quickly. They could have had hints of it before Sozin's Comet.

i actually reckon her crazy self haircut suited her ..she's so attractive but oh so evil

lol I laughed when she was trying to fix her own hair after banishing all her servants. The other thing that bothered me about Azula's story line is what did they do with her? They show Ozai in prison but they don't show what happened to Azula. Did they put her in some kind of insane asylum?

Yeah i wonder...or in a padded room with the 2 ole grans she ordered to do Ag Ni Ki who werent firebenders lol Did you notice we didnt see Iroh at the crowning of Zuko? Thought it was odd not to see him, or did i miss him?

That's a good idea! I bet that's what happened to her. And now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing Iroh either! =O That's really strange. I'll have to rewatch it to be sure.

Same, the first time i saw it i expected to see Iroh looking all proud, with maybe a tear glistening in his eye...something like that to set us off in similiar fashion lol

^ lol i agree. He was probably with the White Lotus Society helping rebuild towns. But why he would he miss Zuzu's coronation? I guess we'll never know.

Anyway. She was paranoid when her friends betrayed her. But I felt that she really lost it when she 'saw' her mother behind her in the mirror.

I didn't even nnotice that Iroh wasn't there! Weird. Well, Azula was so freaky when she was insane! I was really freaked! Yeah, what did they do with her? I mean, did they just leave her chained to a drain?

but i'd like to see the Agni Kai between them when she is in the better condition.
i bet Zuko still could handle her.
because Zuko now fight with the positive philosophy of fire,
while Azula fight with terrifing her enemy.
and Zuko has much better moves than Azula
