Josh forgave Liza for her 14-year-sized lie, and the two of them decided to start over. Other than that, though, Younger left so much open for season two—most of the characters still don't know about Liza's double life.

How Younger Became My Favorite Show on TV (and What I Want to See in Season 2)
ended approximately 12 hours ago, and I miss it already.
It took me all season—I alternated watching week to week and storing up episodes to binge—to put my finger on exactly what I love so much about this show, and why it\'s such a necessary pleasure for me.
. It\'s inclusive and stubbornly optimistic, and it\'s the last word on whether you need to be mean to be funny: Nope. And during a TV year that put us through rape on
, and little Jamal getting stuffed into a trash can on
was right on time to keep us from falling into full-tilt darkness.
Last night\'s finale sent Liza and Co. off for the summer on a bright, striving note that felt true to the series\' vibe: Josh forgave Liza for her 14-year-sized lie, and the two of them decided to start over. Other than that, though,
left so much open for season two—most of the characters still don\'t know about Liza\'s double life. But here\'s how you know
is really working: It no longer needs to lean on that gimmick. I\'m majorly invested in what\'s going on with all the crackling, devastatingly well-dressed people in this world—which is why I\'m already thinking ahead to everything I want to see in season two. Such as:
Kelsey\'s major Swedish moment One of the things I love most about this show is what a boss Hilary Duff\'s character is—she might be silly and tequila-thirsty off the clock, but at the office she\'s one hundred percent locked in on success. This season, she stumbled slightly when she slept with the Swedish genius she brought to Empirical—but now that she\'s tamped down that issue, I want to see her status solidified with the book\'s release.
More Martha Plimpton villainy I hope Liza\'s email counter-move, which disabled Plimpy\'s blackmail attempt, inspires a full-on rivalry. Even if everyone knows Liza\'s secret by episode three of season two, age probably isn\'t all Plimpton\'s character has on her. After all, the people who worked with you when you were
A Maggie romance I demand that Maggie either start meeting cool girls in Williamsburg or become the de facto stepmom of
Geneva Pine\'s impending twins. That sick apartment is going to waste!
15 minutes of glorious hipster fame for Josh It\'s only a matter of time before four hot guys playing pioneer tools in expensive T-shirts snag the attention of an eager A&R rep, right? And if Liza hated competing with regular 20-something girls for Josh\'s attention, just wait till she takes on groupies.
Diana gone wild The best thing about Diana—besides that time she said she wanted to keep her life skills sharp in case there was another Sandy—is that she\'s the complete opposite of Liza. Liza believes herself to be a mess, but she\'s actually quite wise; Diana\'s exterior is highly polished (jewelry) and structured (capes), but she can\'t quite see her own path to happiness. Next season, I want to see her with her hair literally down, abandoning work, going on a full on Olivia Pope standing in the sun meets Stella getting her groove back adventure.
Which will free up Charles to pursue Liza This is a tricky one—the serious, well-regarded head of a publishing company can\'t just brush off an assistant\'s major HR heist and start dating her. But that\'s the writers\' problem, not mine! If they didn\'t want to deal with it, they shouldn\'t have created such darling, melty chemistry between Sutton Foster and Peter Hermann.
Caitlin time! Liza\'s daughter is on her way home, and I won\'t accept a quick turnaround that sends her right back to school. She\'s the factor that ups the ante of Liza\'s life, even once her ruse is dropped. I want to see her interning a couple of floors down from her mom—or, at the very least, insisting that the woman who gave birth to her stop wearing slouchy knit caps. (As proud as I\'d be of her reinvention, that would be an irrefutable condition if it were me.)
returns in January. If you haven\'t seen it yet, you can binge on Amazon (episode one is free) and elsewhere.
