 Midnight par LJ Smith
Midnight by LJ Smith
Warning: May Contain Spoilers but not big ones, I’ll warn you! ;)

Okay, So I finished this book today a few hours il y a and I’m still very much angry. Why, toi ask? well because it turned out nothing as I imagined. and yes, that is a bad thing. The book starts off where Shadow Souls left off, (spoilers for Shadow Souls) Damon is human. Now, I imagined that this would play a really big part of the book. That he would stay human for a good portion of the book, and that Damon was, Oh i don’t know, sick. Because anything is possible when toi were vampires turned human par a fleur sent par a Kitsune. For some, reason in my head that meant he was human, very vulnerable and weak. and he was. But just, not how I imagined he would handle it. He was very much like Vampire Damon, and still had powers, which bothered me a little because human meant human, as in so powers whatsoever. Now, I also imagined that Elena would tend to him (I don’t know what I was thinking, obviously I confused book Elena with TV Elena) and she didn’t really care that much, quite the opposite actually; she was scared of him. WHY? he is human. Sure, he’s still Damon, but C’MON! if she knew Damon at all she’d know that he likes being a vampire and does not like being human and weak. for some reason that really bothered me! And also the whole Damon-being-human fiasco only lasted 100 pages, 100 pages of 307 pages. yeah, that also pissed me off. Not the amount of time it took to get him back vampire, but the way he turned back. Really Really bothered me. (spoiler) I mean, he turned back par finding a vampire princess in the Dark Dimensions and exchanging blood with her until he became a vamp. Really?REally? that it? I don’t know what I was expecting but certainly not that. I mean, it was way too easy. Because par the end of Shadow Souls toi think “wow, Damon is human. now that was unexpected, I want to read Midnight so I can see how hard this is gonna be for Damon, and if Elena comforts him ou something. I think it’s not gonna be easy to get him back into a vampire, I mean par that ending I’m sure it’s gonna be nearly impossible!!” Yeah, well NOT! It kinda pissed me off. A lot.

Now Another reason why I think Midnight sucked (for me) was because Elena treats Damon Horribly! and I, for one, HATED that! UGH! toi really never know how seriously slutty she was until now. Honestly! She’s a slut, whore, bitch, whatever toi want to call her, that’s who she really is. She just pisses me off ‘till no end. Honestly! Let me just get this straight for all toi Book Elena amoureux out there, She tells Stefan “Oh I l’amour you, sooo sooo much! I regret ever even touching Damon, because I l’amour so much! I’m yours, yours, yours completely, love!’ then they kiss, then he falls asleep ou something and she goes to Damon’s room and jumps him saying “Oh Damon, toi are the feu that burns in my heart, do me.”

And it’s like she knows what she’s doing, she doesn’t stop. Stefan probably knows what she’s doing too, and let’s her be, and frankly I don’t know why the hell he does that. Damon knows and he’s totally ok with that. Oh and did I mention that whenever the chienne gets pissed at Damon for saving her best friend she slaps him, then run off to Stefan. It just pisses me off so bad! and to haut, retour au début it off (this really got under my skin) When they’re walking together, (Bonnie, Damon, Stefan & Elena) The chienne randomly stares at Stefan and gets this strongly desire to be near him because goddammit I l’amour him and I want to Kiss him right now, full of desire And That chienne does Kiss him, in front of Damon! UGH! Seriously Elena? Seriously?

The whole book really pissed me off, but what really really got me mad was the fact that Elena was mean and bitchy (and slutty) to Damon the whole Damn book, right? Guess when she starts jouer la comédie all nice, actually giving a damn. (Big Spoiler) Yep, toi guessed it! When he Fucking dies! I mean, Ugh! C’MON! REAlly Bitch? really? not only on Elena’s part but also Stefan. I mean toi cry and sob like a litte girl when he dies but if toi remember toi were about to kill him ‘for stealing your humanity’ so shut the fuck up. the only one who had the Godforsaken right to cry and sob was Bonnie. (and before ya’ll say anything, yes I’m Delena, No I am not Bamon) And toi wanna know why? because she was the only one, The only one, who really gave a damn about him and defending him. Honestly, toi want to know my honest opinion? as much as I hate bamon and Adore Delena in the tv series, Midnight (and LJ Smith) made me think that Elena isn’t good for Damon, as toi can see She treats horribly until he fucking dies and Bonnie actually cares. So apparently I prefer Bonnie than Elena for Damon (only in Midnight). Midnight killed Delena for me.

Thought I hated the book, there where a few things I liked. Like the fact that the book made me care for Meredith (thought the whole *spoiler* she’s-a-kinda-maybe-a-newborn-vampire was kinda up in the air at the end) in a way I’ve never expected, possibly because She wasn’t hiding anything (I knew since the beginning she was hiding something). Another thing was that it made me care for Bonnie, because honestly I never cared for Bonnie before she was always there and crying ou fainting. she grew as a character in a way I never expected. She’s not frighten Bonnie anymore, she has a new strength. A Strength that even Elena doesn’t posses. because honestly at the end (spoiler) Damon did died to save her, like I a dit she was the only fucking one who had the right to cry at that moment, she is going to have a new strength from now on, a new reason for living which is that ‘Damon died to save me, So par right i have to live my life and be happy so he didn’t die in vain’ and I totally believe that. of course, At first Bamon disgusts me. But now Bonnie has grown on me and that ‘Bamon disgust’ was engulfed in a “Elena Disgust”.

Things that the book didn’t acomplish: made me care for Ms. fleurs & Matt. I see why they are there, I just don’t really care.

I have a new appreciation for… Sage and his lack of shirts.

I give this book… 4 1/2 of 10

One thing that book made realize: The Vampire Diaries book series is dead to me, and has no hope whatsoever of making a comeback. LJ Smith should have just stopped écriture in book 3, the series would have been much better off.

The Delena fandom has forgotten… the fact that Elena treated Damon so horribly during the entire book, Yes sure they have passion and feu and whatnot. But she doesn’t care, really care, about him unless he’s dying. We should just focus and l’amour the tv series Delena. it’s much better and has bigger hopes of actually being endgame.

The door opened and Derek appeared. He gasped at the blood and the insides lying on the floor.
“What happened?” he asked difficult.
“Exactly what happens when toi double traverser, croix me” Veronica shrugged. She walked past him to Jeremy’s cell. “Where’s Damon Salvatore?”
“They brought him to a private room, like toi asked” Derek answered agitated. “Veronica, toi need to call this off. What you’re doing is wrong”
Veronica turned to him. “You’d be very wise to shut up now” she said. She walked through a door at the end of the room, entering another one.
Damon was chained...

Veronica parked her car in front of her Supernatural prison. She stepped out and walked to the back of her car.
Two of her minions, guarding the entrance, came towards her to give her a hand. Veronica unlocked the tronc and the two men grabbed Jeremy’s arm.
“Lock him up” she ordered furious. They both held him tightly, though he was in no condition to fight them. “Is Rachel inside?”
One of them confirmed that and she headed to the entrance. Rachel was pacing through the room where Caroline, Stefan and Katherine were captivated.
“Can I talk to toi for a moment?” she asked dead serious....

Elijah walked through the woods. After some bickering with Rebekah they had agreed it would be safest if one of them, Rebekah, would stay behind and man the headquarters, while the other, Elijah, would go back to Esther’s grave.
He removed the stone and climbed downstairs. Two coffins were still closed. Elijah walked to the coffin that stood on the left side of his. He opened it and revealed the body of his oldest brother Finn.
Elijah slowly removed the dagger. While Finn slowly regained his life force, Elijah walked to the only closed coffin left. He opened it and gazed at the undead body...

Veronica dragged Jeremy downstairs and threw him on the cold floor of a basement. Jeremy screamed and held his leg. As he tried to pull the Arrow out, Veronica started pacing up and down.
“You lied to me” she muttered agitated, with a feral look in her eyes. “I asked toi straightforward if toi were a medium and toi lied to me in my face” She walked to Jeremy and looked down on him. “How long has your aunt been spying on me? What does she know?” Jeremy didn’t answer and thus she kicked his wounded leg. Veronica raised her voice above Jeremy’s cries. “How long?” she repeated...

Matt, Keith, Bonnie, Jeremy and Veronica were sitting around the cuisine table. Veronica had donné each a cup of coffee, in order to stay awake.
“Thank you” Jeremy a dit uncomfortable. “You don’t really know Elena. It’s not like toi owe her anything”
Veronica cast him a grin that didn’t reach her eyes. “Anything for my soldiers” she replied charming.
“How’s that going?” Matt asked, trying to keep a conversation. “Do toi need anyone else in your…army?”
“Why? Interested?” Veronica returned, raising her eyebrows. “For now the training’s canceled” She turned...

“How are toi holding up?” Bonnie carefully tried to make a conversation. Elena rewarded her with a furious don’t ask stupid questions look. “You know, I’ve been trying to communicate with the spirits. Maybe I can persuade them to help you”
“No, thank you. I think you’ve done enough already” Elena replied cold.
Bonnie looked down and thought about leaving for a second, but then lectured. No plus running, no plus hiding. It was time to own up to her mistakes.
“Elena” Bonnie started, looking up again. “There’s something I’ve wanted to tell toi ever since I was released...

Bonnie and Caroline were walking through the woods, heading for the witch cabin. Something about what Keith had a dit had made Bonnie think. At some point Veronica had believed Bonnie was still a threat, so why not give the girl reason to be threatened.
Bonnie entered the cabin, expecting Caroline to follow. When she didn’t Bonnie turned around. “What are toi waiting for? Get in here”
Caroline pursed her lips. “Yeah” she a dit hesitant. “Damon told me what happened when he got in there, so, eh, I think I’m going to pass”
Bonnie rolled her eyes. “Don’t be ridiculous” she reproached...

Caroline woke up slowly and blinked her eyes. She was back in her lit and Bonnie was sitting par her side. The guy that had attacked her was sitting par the door, on the ground. When she saw him she rose and became upset.
“What is he still doing here?” she asked accusatory, pointing at Keith and looking at Bonnie.
“Waiting for toi to wake up, so he doesn’t have to explain himself twice” Bonnie explained calm. “I’m sorry, Caroline, I should’ve donné toi a head’s up”
Caroline shook her head bewildered. “A head’s up? toi knew this was going to happen?”
Bonnie and Keith exchanged...

Liz was working at her office, when the phone rang.
“Sheriff Forbes” she a dit short when she answered.
“Sheriff Forbes, hi” Stefan replied. “I was wondering how it’s going with the murder on Gabe Lindy”
“I’m sorry, Stefan. I can’t give away such information” Liz answered.
“I’m going to take a wild guess and say the corpse is missing” Stefan a dit amused. A few secondes of complete silence followed. Stefan had asked Katherine to compel the sheriff to forget he knocked her down and took the body.
“What do toi know about that?” Liz eventually asked.
“Doesn’t matter”...

“Can I come in? This talks so…weird, toi know. And if Veronica sees us…” Stefan a dit warning.
“I’m not afraid of Veronica” Rachel a dit in such way it sounded like she meant the opposite.

Katherine was dragging Gabe’s corpse to the backside of Rachel’s house. She couldn’t get inside the house, so she opened the window to the basement and pushed Gabe’s body inside. She held his shoulders and let him down carefully. When she thought it was sûr, sans danger she let go. The corpse fell on the basement floor, mute for a human ear, but as Katherine heard the thump, she figured Rachel would’ve too.
“Damn it” she mouthed. She stood and looked around. Rachel was nowhere to be seen and from what Katherine could hear, she was still listening philosophized to Stefan. If Rachel had heard anything, she sure didn’t suspect anything.
“What are they saying?” Stefan insisted.
“I don’t know, I can’t hear it” Damon hissed.
“What do toi mean, toi can’t hear it?” Stefan fired back.
“Their lips are moving, but there’s no sound coming out of them, not even a whisper” Damon said.
Stefan scribbled up. “I’m going inside. toi stay here and try figuring out what they’re saying” He trusted Damon to do listen to him for a change and sneaked to the back of the building. There had to be another door. There wasn’t. However, on the left side of the building there was a window, big enough for one person to go...
