Obviously Damon. Also, Damon is not just a bad ass, he just ACTS like a bad ass because he's afraid of getting hurt, (which he feel is all he has ever gotten). Damon have a little bit of almost every trait. Without Elena, Damon is on the edge. He feels lost and useless, he just doesn't know what to do, how to act; how to behave. Elena is his rock now. Without Damon, Elena is just pretending to be ok. Damon shows Elena that its ok to take a break from time to time; in order to persevere. Soo they balance each other out.
