I was thinking that when he mentioned Isabelle. I doubt they would reveal the father so early, but it would be nice for Elena to have a blood connection to Jeremy. Not necessary since they are a great brother/sister duo adopted or not. Still, it would be nice.

I think he could very well be her father. And i really hope he is! That would make for some very very interesting dramatic storylines. And John gave an immortality ring to Isobel which means that she meant a lot to him at some time, and they were probably very intimate which could lead to ----> Elena. And with Elena being adopted by John's brother, they would just be adopting their niece and Elena would be both Gilbert and Pierce (I think Isobel is a Pierce like Katherine).
