Five days later.
Derek was rushing through the kitchen, setting the breakfast table, tableau when slow footsteps were heard on the stairs. Derek raced to the stairs and tried to help Damon keep his balance. Damon tried to push him away, but was too weak.
“I made breakfast” Derek said.

Caroline and Matt are in the Mystic Grill and Caroline tells Matt not to blame himself. Matt explains that he never thought Elena would do something like that for him, but Caroline calls him stupid and tells him Elena loves him as her own brother. Matt then declares how much he hates that everything is changing. Caroline says that things can only get better, as Klaus is dead. I was running as fast as I could possibly go. But it wasn't easy when toi had just been staked in the ribs. They were gaining now. I had to try harder. Boy was I getting too old for this!

I could kick myself. Why the hell had I done it? Like the stupid thing was any use to me anyway. Of course I knew why I had done it: boredom and a source of entertainment. These two things were precisely the reason why I had done many of the things I had done in my 1000 years of existence.
