Ten-year-old George Burdynski Jr. was last seen on May 24, 1993 in Brentwood, Maryland. His mom told the police that he left home at approximately 3:30 that afternoon where he was planning to ride his bike to meet an adult friend named Robert Violet at his house, but Robert said that he never made it there.

Witnesses reported seeing George in front of the house of Robert's mother at 4:00 PM. He was last seen biking around the neighborhood at approximately 8:30 that night and hasn't been seen since. The spare rim on his bicycle (which was never recovered) was discovered by George's dad and Robert near a tennis court three blocks away from the Budrynskis' house.

One lead in George's disappearance involved three suspects: Steve Leak, James A. Kowalski Jr. and Joseph Lynch, who were connected to a child exploitation ring in the mid-Atlantic United States. The men were never charged in connection with George's disappearance, but the FBI began investigating child exploitation on the Internet as a result of the failed lead and Innocent Images was created in 1994 to help prosecute suspected child pornographers.

George's mother testified at Joseph Lynch's trial, saying that George visited his house with his friends. The authorities believe that two of George's friends were sexually abused by Steve Leak and Joseph Lynch the weekend prior to when George went missing. James Kowalski Jr. said that he wasn't aware of George's disapperance, but investigators discovered that Kowalski Jr. videotaped news footage of George's disappearance at his home. Since then, James Kowalski Jr. and Steve Leak are in prison, but Joseph Lynch has been released.

In March of 2002, investigators announced they were focusing on another person (whose identity has not been publicly released) whom they believe may have murdered George. In 2004, there were reported sightings of George in Boston, Massachusetts and Northborough, Massachusetts where he appeared to be homeless and selling magazines or coupon books door to door with a group of people, but the man has not been identified.

George's case is classified as a non-family abduction. He has a scar located on the right side of his face above his mouth.
