Nearly 20 years later, search for Sara Anne Wood might resume

Twelve-year-old Sara Wood was last seen on August 18, 1993 in Frankford, New York. She was riding her pink and white ten-speed mountain bike home from the the Norwich Corners Church where she had picked up some posterboard, a church song book and some 8x10 plastic transparencies.

Sara's bike and the supplies that she picked up from the church were found in an area of brush several hundred feet off Hacadam Road later that night. The bike was leaning up against a tree and the supplies were scattered near by.

Three years after her disappearance, a man named Lewis S. Lent Jr. was charged and convicted with abducting and murdering Sara. Lewis claimed that he buried Sara's body in a clearing near Raquette Lake in the Adirondack Mountains and drew a map of where it was for the police, but he later said that her body wasn't there and refused to say where it was.

Sara's case is classified as a non-family abduction.
