This is hard to answer because the question is not precise. If you are asking that I thought the person talking for her was black,then yes. Because she is. If you are asking if I thought her physical features appear to be black or inspired of then I would have to say no.

I think if I were to headcanon the characters as humans then I definitely imagine all the lion characters and the hyena characters as Black African (even though some of the VAs weren't). Rafiki too. Timon and Pumbaa, maybe (or they could be some form of American ethnicity) and Zazu maybe (although he could be of British ethnicity). Obviously in the actual movie all the animals are African though.

When it comes to the individual characters (Nala included) and how their physical designs came about, the artists looked at real life animals so that's where a lot of their features come from. They also drew inspiration from the VAs apparently (I know they did this for Young Simba's physical appearance).
