My favori place is among the tall, majestic redwood trees of northern California, of which I still think of as my home. But the most special place in my cœur, coeur that only few I have told about, is on a cliff over looking the Pacific.
Where the trees end and the short meadow begins I have never felt plus at peace than I did there. I sit with the trees to my back with my legs hanging off the cliff, just sitting with the cool breeze blowing against my face. THE MAKERS OF FIRE

The cub came upon it suddenly. It was his own fault. He had been careless. He had left the cave and run down to the stream to drink. It might have been that he took no notice because he was heavy with sleep. (He had been out all night on the meat-trail, and had but just then awakened.) And his carelessness might have been due to the familiarity of the trail to the pool. He had travelled it often, and nothing had ever happened on it.
